Default Verdict in

Got the call from the dealer today. Defintiely thought it was the differential and pinions. Thought about a shim but felt the shim alone was only part of it. Pretty much all new pinions and parts in the differential and putting one shim in as well tomorrow. Will report of success.

And guess what. He said he got a call from another new truck owner reporting the same issue at about same speeds. He said "I think I know what it is, as of today."

But they cant figure out what the driveline vibration is at low accel in various speed points

Especially if they drive it with windows open its not as noticeable.

I also have soem strange "rough: spots in the drive train at or near shift points when giving just slight gas. Thankfully they felt that as well. They think they might be related (but not so sure).

I should get a call later today or tomorrow and will post their findings.
Very interesting. I just started to notice the same condition at steady highway speeds between 55-65. I've got a 10' with the 5.7 / 3.92's w/ a little over 22K miles on the engine. I'll take it in and go for a drive with with the tech. Appreciate you keeping us posted.

Best regards,
JG

Default Whining noise

To whoever it may concern, I have experienced this very annoying whining noise on my 2010 RAM Hemi between the speed of 45 and 55 mph. The problem has been solved by the dealer : the reason of this noise is a defective bearing inside the rear differential. They replaced it (warranty) and the sound is GONE ! it was driving me nuts and thanks god they could solve the problem :-)

Well, don't want to burst your bubble but mine started again after a month after the first repair. They totally did an about face and changed approach in facing an issue they can't fix. The first time it was "That's not right adn we need to replace differential components". Now its "Thats as-per-design and when they new parts ar einstalled its quiet until they all get broken in then they whistle again." Short for We Screwed Up and There Will Be No Fix.

I just hope I will not have to go trough the same .... as well I never experienced the rough spots in the drivetrain and near shift points you were talking about, maybe your problem is more complicated ? will keep you posted if anything goes wrong again on my side.

Default whining noise

So far, so good, the noise never came back and I enjoy driving my truck.
I guess they made the right thing by replacing this defective bearing in the rear differential.

I had the same issue and took mine to the dealer just a few days ago. They said that they had 3 different techs take it for a test drive and all of them reported it as normal driveline sounds... I'll definitely be following this thread as I'm sure there is a cause for it. Keep us posted.
