Topper/What will mine look like?
I ordered an ARE Z-Series because the Leer equivalent requires the tailgate top piece to be removed and replaced with their trim. Their door does not cover the top of the tailgate. The ARE does. I plan to only use in the winter and don't want that permanent piece on my tailgate. Of course the Leer sales guy stated it looks good on there. I cannot understand why they went that route with their doors. Both caps look good though. My truck has the same colors as the black one above, I'll post the pictures when my cap comes in.

Can you post a pic of the tailgate with the ARE cap on. Both picks only show the sides. I'd like to see how they manage the rear lip.....Thanks.
BTW I don't the trucks look at all bad with the Z series caps. I know some do not like caps, but for some of us they are a necessity, especially during winter and to protect our tools from walking away for the job site. Heck they are handy if you had just a weeee bit too much to drink as well.....

It's a rubber flap that seals in between the rear lip and rear window. It works well, I drive a lot of gravel and it keeps the dust out pretty good.

Problem I see is that in the winter when water sits on that lip it is gonna freeze that flap in place. I wouldn't want to tear the flap off. Actually my plastic lip cover thingy keeps breaking off anyway. I am thinking about having a stainless steel one made down at the Vocational school.
On the ARE there is a molded cover attached to the cap door that goes over the whole tailgate top when closed.
On the Leer they remove the stock tailgate spoiler and put on their "piece". The window closes with a rubber seal that is against the top of that "piece" around the middle of the tailgate top. Do not have the full details but that is what I take from the pictures and what the dealer told me.
Will post pics when mine comes in. Dealer ordered wrong length and had to reorder last friday. They knew my bed was 5-1/2'.
