I have had that happen here in the south on two different vehicles. We get snow every now and then and have it happen on two wheel drive trucks.I had to let them thaw out.Would have thought transmission heat would have kept it from packing in and sticking shifter linkage but it didn't.

This is interesting. I wonder....And I know this could some safety problems...What would happen if was really cold and that stuff froze up in there. Could it be possible to safely use a small propane (butane?) torch? The kind that you buy like at Lowe's.

No Go on the torch. The fuel line runs in the area, branches from the frame towards the engine. There are also plenty of electronics in the area. I have thought of that very thing. If the weather is cooling down, you better clean it out before total freeze-up. After that you will need to be towed to a heated garage for a thaw. Hunting in the middle of no where could be interesting.

Bought my truck last year and drove it all winter and never had any type of issue, and my truck sat outside all winter long. So thats the first I have heard of it, but it is a good thing to keep in mind.

Do the factory skid plates play a role in this problem?

See my post from Saturday on the same issue. The only way this is going to get any attention from Dodge is if everyone who has the problem reports it. Call or e-mail them.

I don't have skid plates on mine, so not an issue.

I was told that STAR or Chrysler Technical Team is reviewing the issue, dealer figured he would not hear from them for a few days. They mentioned another complaint, might be yours Rob. I guess we wait and see what they come up with.

Thanks for the update. Hope they do find a way to deal with it. It would be a true pain to have to worry about driving in slushy snow all the time.

Thanks,
Rob
