best headlight upgrade I ever made
Sylvania Silverstars, though a bit pricey, and wear out quicker, throw awesome light. Not any more obnoxious, but I can see stuff much better. Seems to be much better reflectivity.
I have them in my old s-10 pickup, wife's Caddy, and my motorcycle (all lights, even the PIAAs). They are really awesome bulbs, but carry a spare.
The difference was driven home when the S-10 burned one out, and I replaced it temporarily with a regular halogen I had on the shelf in the garage. The difference on the two sides of the truck was just amazing.
Not more light - just better light!

You are. You have two different bulbs in each housing. One for low and one for high. When in low beam mode, only the lower bulb will fire. When in high beam mode, all four will light.
So i can put HID bulbs in without the wiring harness and stuff? I dont know anything about this stuff. If so how much improvement does it make? What bulbs would u all recommend? I've never worried about headlights before, but the lights on this truck kinda suck so i'd like to have some brighter lights, especially with it being deer season here.
Go to your nearest auto parts store and buy Sylvania Silverstar replacement bulbs - yo will need 4 all together. Replace the OEM bulbs with the new bulbs.
Next, DO NOT TOUCH the glass on the old or new bulbs - if you do, clean them with alcohol and wipe dry with oil free paper towels. Heck, they will air dry quickly. Pad the old bulbs, and put them in a plastic zip lock bag - keep the bag handy (in the truck) for spares (which can be utilized when the Silverstars burn out.)
You will see markedly better at night....................

Does anyone know if you can use a HID H13 setup with canbus error cancelling and actually have it work on a 2011 Ram 1500 with two bulb system. I would love to upgrade to a properly aimed 35watt setup as a 55w would just be stupic
new to forum this am. name's Rick. just bought 2010 ram 2500 diesel. interested in putting hid headlights but heard a few problems with dodges as far as flickering even with digital ballasts and cancelers. also don't want to blind oncoming traffic as I know what its like to be on the receiveing end. also what housing should I use with hids in the 8000k range? if this has been answered in a previous thread my appologies. I read through quickly before work this am.
