Will the tailgate fit inside the back seat?
guys,
Have a 2009 SLT Crew Cab....will my tailgate fit inside the truck in the back seat area?? I have to remove it to fit some xmas trees in the bed next week and figure if it fits in my backseat, I'll bungy the trees in the bed and keep the tonneau cover down to reduce the drag.
Anyone know if it'll fit.

I don't even need the 05 measuring tape to tell you it will 
Think about it, tailgate fits within the outer edges of the box, the doors are on the outer edge........if it will fit inside the box, it will fit inside the doors.

Maybe, maybe not - don't forget about those pesky door handles and trim. Can't think of a situation where I would put the tailgate inside the cab of the truck. Leaving it down sounds like the least stupid thing to do.
