WHy is my truck cutting out under WOT?
lmao, exactly!
Everyone uses the word governor, does anyone actually know how it works in our trucks? Primitive governors such as centrifugal designs found in pressure washers, lawn mowers are linked to the cam and carb are controlled by spring and older model vehicles were linked to the distributor and carb and were controlled by vacuum. Later vehicles are controlled electronically, so are our trucks controlled by an electronic module such as a servo motor and monitored by sensors? Does the ECM control the servo if there is one or just the sensors? Because if it's linked directly to either one such as your ABS which is controlled by electronic pulses, why is it called a governor when ABS is not, lol? Or better yet...why isn't ABS considered a governor

The speed limiter on our trucks does not actuate the break. As far as i can tell it electronically cuts back the fuel flow back to idle levels and waits for the vehicle to decelerate back below the threshold before allowing more fuel to be delivered again.
It used to be the top speed was based on what the speed rating of the tires from the factory were rated at. That could be why some are 105, and others are 115. Not sure it that's the way these govenors set now though.
Gen. 2 Rams had a pressure sensor which would cut the fuel supply (I believe) now they just program the ECM to whatever speed rating (possibly based on tire rating) is safe for the tires. Considering it takes all but a few seconds to over ride the ECM through a Diablo tuner, I can't imagine it's much more then a preset figure within your ECM.

Key word: "GOVERNOR"...one and only one if it is one...the ECM, lol! Everyone knows they can be re-programed, lol!. Fact: these trucks are governed by electronic pulses in various frequencies. Does the ECM alone (my opinion) send out the pulses, or do the sensors send them out as well...could someone PLEASE elaborate, lol! I think the sensors feed info to the ECM and the ECM sends out the pulses making it the only governor (electronic) if you want to call it that, but it actually programs the sensors...could that be why they are called programmers, he he?
Whether they govern or not....I don't think there are any governors on our trucks (imo)....if so, please tell me where they are at...
I'm not laughing at anyone but myself for making it sound confusing, he he. So "where is the governor" that everyone keeps talking about, lol?
