I know my ford had a governor. I haven't gotten this truck upto speeds anywhere close to what the Fords governor was set at, but it could be a possibility.

I'm pretty sure these trucks govern out at 170km/h (105mph). it was hard to tell exactly where you were stopping, but thats my guess.

Yep, 105 top speed, then the govenor kicks in. Was a pain in the butt trying to dyno my truck on a second gear start with this issue. At higher speeds your speedometer doesn't always keep up with your actual speed during fast accelerations. I notice that a lot when at Great Lakes Dragaway on my Charger.

Most any of the aftermarket programmers will let you change your top speed. I set mine to 140 and hit the highway to max it out, and they work. (you can use a GPS device to confirm your speed if you dont want to leave your programmer plugged in).

Just remember if you decide to go test it to make sure it works, be mindful of police position, proximity to holidays, how recently it rained, which size/make/characteristics of the tires you use, all that good stuff. A six-thousand pound truck has much different handling characteristics at 140mph (and above obviously) than at 105. But most importantly watch out for police. :]

Yeah all good points. I almost prefer to do any of my high speed testing on the most obvious locations such as the highway because at least the roads are designed for high speeds, unlike back rural roads. If i get caught, thats my problem.

Ya I need to get a programmer if only for that,it's like putting your face into the windshield when it hits . I think I would set mine to go as fast as the Speedo
