Default Courtesy Lights Seem to Have a Mind of Their Own...

I've got an interesting one here. Those blue/white LED lights for our mirrors that come on when you unlock the doors or open a door likes to stay on permanently when the truck is parked. It is an intermittent issue to say the least. Sometimes it does it, and other times it goes off at the 60 second setting that I have it set to. No, there is not a door half shut. Thought of that one already. The only way I've been able to get them to turn off when the truck does this is to take the key fob and lock the truck up. At that point, the lights will go off immediately.

Speculations? Comments? Eye opening factoid that I didn't think about or should have?

Dude I had this same problem last night. I was finishing up putting the new exhaust on and doing some little minute adjustments and I had unlocked the truck to fire it up, then turned the truck off closed the drivers door and then walked back into the garage to clean up tools and what not, turn around and those damn ufo lights are still on! Will be interesting to see what anyone says about this!

Your dealer is incorrect.... (IF you have the security group package)
the reason they are staying on, is to let you know that the alarm is NOT activated
Try opening the drivers door, press the door lock button once, then just shut the door (do not use the key fob for this check)
This mode of "Manuely Locked - Arm Alarm" is how the security system works
Read the owners manuel on how to activate the alarm system,
as ther is a brief description in there about it.
After doing this, the LED mirror/puddle lights should shut off very quickly

I haven't had this issue with my Ram, however my wifes Explorer had this issue with the exterior mirror lamps would stay lite, even though everything was locked/latched and closed. The solution I found was just to relube (grease) the latch (only occured when drivers door was open and then closed), for whatever reason the latch wasn't seating completely, even though no "Door Ajar" signal was indicated, nor was the door not latched. The problem would only occur though during colder temps.

The alarm was wishful thinking as I dont have the factory alarm. Just some Sentry "deterant" system installed. Next please

EDIT: Just tried unlocking the truck with the fob, opened the drivers then used the driver side door lock to lock the doors like above post #4 shut the door and what do you know....... still on! Truck goes to the dealership on tuesday for other odds and ends ill have them deal with it. Unless I have the illumiated approach set for like 10 minutes or something they should just turn off after a few seconds you would think.

I'm going to try Sedan's thoughts here after awhile when I can get it into our shop and out of the damn wind. Here I stand 6 foot three and weigh 280# and the wind here almost knocks me over. Crazy Missouri weather I tell ya.
