Not Having LSD on 3.55 is that poor choice?
I have 3.55 open gear, (most i`ve owned had open gear) and no problems gettin around. Learn how to drive is a good idea.
Nice to know, that in america, WE have options, but i dont think "city dweller" snow vs country snow are any different, BOTH have their momments regardless. I`ve seen just as bad of road conditions in citys as well as out in the back country. (sometimes its worse trying to drive in the city with ice and slush) Especially if its nothing but ice underneath the snow, no 4 wheel drive truck has the ability to get much traction, open gear vs LSD or not.
To each his/her own, buy what you think will get the job done for you.
If you`re getting stuck in the snow, then maybe you should re-think driving, period. Stuck is stuck folks, 4wd or not, some people just shouldnt be allowed to drive.
....now will somebody PLEASE turn the summer weather back on...???????

Honesty, not sure I really am worried! We just got DUMPED here, like 21 inches and I was out today in it and I had no problems. It was crazy out there! I was pusthing show with my bumper over my fog lights.. it was really nuts.. I actually turned off the traction controll..
One more note. The traction control is on all the time even when you turn off the esp.I would really like to know how the LSD and traction control would work together.
The LSD in my 07 cummins worked great,it's basically a geared unit like the Tru Trac.
Full lockers are more at home in more off road worthy vehicles not our daily driven Rams. Sure would be nice to see a dodge tech in these posts like the cummins forum gets.

part of the esp measures the speed of each rear wheel and another part takes into account your forward speed and the angle of your steering wheels. With the lsd you are basically taking out the part of the esp that measures the speed of the rear wheels since they will most likely be turning the same speed. so now the angle of the front wheels is all it will be reading. to those of you who have a 4th gen 1500 should know what im talking about. if you shut off the esp while in 2wd and you keep the front wheels straight and stationary then you can roast your tires all you want. now do the same test except for try to turn your front wheels then the esp will step in and cut power to the motor because it thinks you are going to spin out of control.
And chubby`s and ferd`s dont have one wheel wonders too...???
I dont care if you have ALL 4 wheels spinning, if you`re stuck, you`re stuck.
And read post #32 too, pretty much says what i was saying. (open vs LSD)
Driving in bad weather conditions, is bad any way you look at it...
...staying home and off the roads in bad weather conditions dosent require much thought, just common sense.
Ther`s a ton of people that do NOT have any common sense and shouldnt be driving...PERIOD
You'll be fine. The electronic LSD works the same as a mechanical one. A buddy of mine decided to test his in some mud, deep enough to where he couldn't get out as to prove a point. I watched and observed both sides as both wheels turned at the same speed, whether slow or fast spinning. No different if it was a locking diff in there. (Ok there was a tiny difference in wheel speed, but you wouldn't notice it if you weren't looking for it). Of course I had to pull him out
Magical...??? Nothing magical budd, but knowing how and when NOT to drive helps
