Check to see if the noise is coming from rear by opening up rear sliding window.

1/2" insulation foam behind license plate mounting bracket solved the problem for me.

Default The Fix

UPDATE

The problem is in the Torque Converter. Dodge is supposed to have one out in 60 to 90 days. There will also be a Recall on all 2011 Ram 1500 built from November 2009 until December 2010 for the Rear Differential. Pinion Bearing Issue. There was a Rapid Response on these Trucks, The Dealer was supposed to Ad extra Gear Oil. 20 OZ to be Exact and an extra 3 OZ of Posi additive if yours is a Posi. ( Limited Slip )

What a piece of crap. If Moter Trend calls that Truck of the year. They SUCK!

I have a similar issue with my 2010 Ram. Hemi with 3.92. Slight "Rattle" when under a slight load. Only when the engine gets a bit of a load when coming up to a hill. Does it a lot more when i'm towing my trailer. Does it with ECO on or off and also does it wether tow mode is enable or not. It does sound like a lose exhaust part or something rubbing on the frame. Very annoying.

I have my 09 3:92 hemi truck at the dealer and they are currently working on this issue. Thoughts are the problem is thrust-bearing related. will update

Dodge had admitted to this problem and they do not have a fix for it yet. They said it's caused by the MDS and TCC ( Torque Converter Control ) activating at the same time. It is a widley Reported problem.
I believe they would have to come out with a different Converter. Mine sounds like a a Howling, Growling noise under partial Throttle. With the MDS off or on in 4th and 5th Gear under partial Throttle only. Reminds me of an AC compresser kicking on with a bad Bearing in it. I've tried to get Dodge to buy the Truck back and they won't. They are still Selling this piece of S..t to unsuspecting Buyers, when they know about it and have no fix for it. I'm now working with the Factory Rep, to take it back on Trade.
UPDATE
The issue with the Rear Axls is Truckd produced from November/2009 to December 2010 don't have enough Rear Axle Oil. There is a Rapid response out on these Trucks to add 20 Oz more oil threw the Vent Tube. They are not over filling it, they are bringing the Oil level to where it should be. They did away with the Rear Axle Cover that had the fill hole in it and with the Rubber Plug in it. They went back to a solid Cover and a Fill hole Tapped into the Passenger side of the Differential Housing. Apparrenty the Trucks Manufactered on these Date's had the Hole Drilled and Tapped to low in the Housing. There for, Full was not full enough. Causing lack of Oil to the Front Pioion Bearing leading to Differential Failure. Could even lock up, would make Noise before it did that though. A Recall is supposed to be issued in Feb/2011 I think they will have to put the Old Style Cover back on to be able to fill to the proper level in the future.
Also I have had the right Frt Bearing Hub *** repalced, that was defective and making a loud clicking Noise that could be felt threw the gas pedal and Steering Wheel. What a PIECE OF CRAP!
The only good thing is the HEMI!

That could be possible. The Crankshaft is Forced to the rear of the Motor under Throttle. Why only Partial Throttle though. The Thrust Bearing controls how much the Crankshaft is allowed to walk back and forth in its Saddle. Cut your Oil Filter apart, if this Bearing was going bad you find Metal particles in the Filter and in the Oil. And you would get the Noise all the time. Oil presure would also begin to drop.

I`ve bitched about this rattly engine sound ever since buying my first 2010 hemi truck.
(i am on my 2nd 2010 truck now, first one rattled so bad i traded it back in when they couldnt fix it)
Nobody understood what i was talking about, so i`m glad to see someone else bring this issue back to attention.
Though i`ve bought my last dodge truck, it dosent much matter now if they figure it out, this ones going down the road very soon too.

Hello HEMI15150
I owned an Auto Repair Speed Shop for 13 years. These Guys were not pulling any of their **** on me. They tried telling me it was Normal or that it wasn't there. Those Service Writers don't know ****. Tsid Truck is the biggest piece of crap I have ever bought. I am mad at myself fro not researching before I bought. I made a bad choice and now have to live with it. I am working on getting rid of it. I hate Driving it. Good luck to you with yours.
