Partial Throttle Rattling Noise
I have a 2011 Hemi with 3:55 started hearing that 'grinding' noise at 3000kms, dealer found 3 bolts loose on the TC at my 3rd visit (had reached 26000kms). Problem was fixed for a while but came back with some vibrations at idle. Last week, at 36000kms, the dealer opened it and found out the flywheel was cracked and its bolt holes were damaged (they showed it to me). They just replaced the TC, seal and flywheel. The vibration at idle stopped but the grinding noise is still there and now, it even sounds like an old Harley Davidson under light acceleration. I have yet another appointment at the dealership next Tuesday... I should have kept my 2008 Tacoma...
When will chrysler wake up and recall all these trucks with noisey torque convertors..!
Chrysler should also find a vendor that CAN build the torque convertors correctly and stop cheezin out on these half azzed vendors.

hey there folks, im new to this forum!
im having this problem on my 09 hemi with the 3.96 rear 90,000k,
when i drive under light load, the best way to describe the noise is a "clickity clack clickity clack clickity clack" rapidly over and over.
it is most noticed at 30 km/h
If I shift into neutral, it goes away instantly
If I put it into tow/haul, it goes away instantly
It must be a combo of the MDS and torque converter in my application.
Has anyone else tried shifting into neutral or tow/haul? any difference?
My dealer here in town is filled with a bunch of d-bags, and im not looking forward to dealing with them tomorrow, but seeing as there is a strong number of people with the same problem, i am going to be pushy and show the facts! If worst comes to worse, ill wait till warranty runs out and install a good aftermarket one my self

This is now old news however it has taken a long time to end this problem. Living here in one of the flattest parts of the world it was very
difficult to demonstrate the noise to the service manager. It took 4 test
drives befor I could get the noise to last long enought for him to hear it.
By this time Dodge had issued the repair bulletin for the torque convertor.
After hearing the noise he quickly ordered the new convertor and it was a
simple one day repair. Its been over a month and I can not get any rattle
out of it. Looking forward to my next mountain holiday!!

I have a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500, Hemi, with 3.92 Posi Rear Axle. In any gear, at partial throttle, it sounds like a Bearing Noise. Let me be specific. The type of Bearing noise you hear when a Bearing is gone in a Front Wheel when you turn, an Altenator Bearing, A Crankshaft Thrust Bearing Etc...
You let off the Gas and it goes away. 5th, 4th or any gear. ECO off or on. You can feel in threw the seat of your Pants and threw the Gas pedal. If you depress the Pedal it will downshift and go away. Only at partial throttle. I am running the correct Fuel and the Truck has 300 miles on it. The Dealer told me it was the ECO system. I said I pressed the Button on the Shifter and turned it off and its there no matter what. He said drive it for 5000 miles. I owned a Speed Shop for 13 years and have built many Race Engines and repaired many Cars. Sounds like something is wrong to me. Your help would be appreciated....Thank you, JD

I had this issue also, found out after looking into these forums that the torque convertor was the culprit, and not a reliability issue according to the TransEngineer at the Ramforumz.com. There is a TSB concerning the torque convertor noise issue. Sorry I do not have the TSB number off by hand.
Ok. I found this forum trying to figure out what was causing this rattle in my ram 1500 going uphill around 1900-2100 rpms. As I see no one else found a solution I'll tell you what mine was. I brought it to a mechanic today to try to find the source of the rattle only to have him tell me he's not wasting his day trying to find it. So I got pissed went home and started taking EVERYTHING apart. I had read a few places people had replaced a cat converter and that fixed it. So I took off one of my cats and checked the comb and no rattle, upon further inspected I noticed the support arm welded on had BROKE up near the manifold. So I sent it to my buds house to weld back on since all I have is a braze and silver sod. BOOM problem fixed. It's in such an obscure spot I did not see the break (I had looked before) until I had taken it off. So if anyone is having this issue check out those support arms on your cats I bet that's it. You can see the tack job ram had done around it so you KNOW they know about this issue.
Cheers
