As you can see from reading everyone's response, that some of you have Trucks that are 2009'S having this problem. I can't believe they have had the problem so long and can't correct it. And unsuspecting Buyers are greeted with this wonderful noise in their $35,000.00 Trucks to this present day. That's why they are giving 5-year 1000,000 mile warranty on these Toilets.
I am now working with the Factory Rep threw a Special Investigations Office. I will keep you all informed. As I have said in a previous thread, reminding you that if you have a Ram 1500 built between Nov/2009 and Dec/2010 you have rear Differential Issues. You must follow the rapid response and fill the Diff with 20 OZ of extra Oil. A Recall will come out this Month for it.
Ford, Chevy, GMC, anything but this rattling Turd.
That is very interesting, im starting to think its the torque converter for sure now. I can get this sound going if i hold the rpms at 1900 with the 3.55s

I'm bringing my truck to the dealer tomorow to check my torque converter selenoid code thats going on, and ill mention this issue also hoping they say the torque converter is a total loss and they replace it with a brand new one.

If Dodge hasn't solved the problem wouldn't a new oem torque converter do the same thing? Or would they use something other than OEM since that's why we're all having
problems?

Yeah your probably right on that one, i'm sure someone at dodge somewhere knows what the problem is, and i don't think its every single truck that has the problem. They'll probably wait a lil bit and stretch it out until all the warranty's are over then it'll be our problem. But i'm sure if this is an issue they'll lose money with all the lifetime warranty 09s in the states.

It would be a quick fix for to replace it as i don't need my truck for the next 2 weeks, but im just dreaming really cause that mostlikely wont happen.

Wow, and I was thinking of getting a Dodge! No way! I'll keep me old truck for now, and keep researching. Remember the Chrysler workers they caught drinking (alcohol) on the job a few months ago? Maybe the same time frame - September - December 2010? Yes America, we are killing ourselves - don't need help from outsiders, China included.

Oh well, I sure hope you guys get this issue fixed for good.

Same problem here.
Lagging tranny making vibration noise thru out cab at low rpms
2009 5.7 hemi 2wd regular cab.
Bought it new in jan 2010 and noticed right away

Three different dealer visits and one Chrysler rep later...

NO FIX....

first I was told it was bed liner still forming to bed..(what an idiot)
check coolant lines for loose lines in engine, check drive line if it was out of balance, check rear axle, catalytic converter change, new magna flow exhaust....

nothing fixed it...

still like that

I Dread driving it....

Keep thread alive..... List any fixes...

I had a 4.7 in a Dakota and it had a similar noise - turned out it was a cracked/broken honeycomb "brick" inside one of the catalytic convertors.

Interesting thread. Really hard to diagnose based on the various descriptions.

My truck starting making a noise similar to what you guys are hearing.

A low pitch muffled growl. Doesn't really sound like metal to metal.

I thought it had something to do with either my SC tune (perhaps detonation due to the custom shift schedule I installed which holds overdrive gear at lower speeds). It doesn't sound like the "pinging" or "clattering" sound of too much advanced timing like I used to hear many moons ago but who knows.

I wonder if the data logger on my SC tuner would indicate detonation if any.

-or -

the fact that I changed out the single outlet muffler to an OEM dual out.

Called the dealer today cause it had been a few days and i was really curious, well good news for me the tech told me on the phone "we got a torque converter on order and will have your truck ready early next week". So there you go i knew i wasn't going crazy, im gonna have a brand new torque converter. Now i cant wait to try it out and see if that will actually solve my rattling issue as well as towing issues. I'm pretty pumped now and the service is really great there since its not where i bought the truck and also haven't seen anybody since i dropped the truck off after hours. Happy with the service so far.

I'm getting a rattle lately too at mid throttle, but mine sounds like it might be a loose heat shield or something else in the exhaust.
