I've only had my F-1 for 8 months but it is as black as the day I installed it. Vehicle is parked outside 24/7 in the FL sun and although with a little butter I think I could fry an egg on it it has not faded.

Bakflip is nice, no doubt about it. But, I can buy a color matched, fiberglass, solid cover, for less than that - installed.

But why would you want to turn your truck into a station wagon with one of those heavy, inconvenient bohemouths? I guess if you don't really need your truck bed, then an old school tilter might work for you. But the best asset your truck has is its bed. Why would you want to eliminate this? It's like getting rid of your doors and saying that from now on we'll just have to access the cab through the windows. I just don't get it. Will someone explain to me how color matched inconvenience makes sense?????

IMHO, Color matched fiberglass looks nicer, more weatherproof, very secure, doesn't look "added on," easier to access without opening the tailgate, unlockable from the outside, - MHO, just because you asked .

Like I said before, it appears that your product is a quality unit - I just think it's a little overpriced for what you don't get - again, MHO.

Thanks for your comments WNDERR. It's discussions like these that make this forum great! Thanks also for appreciating the fact that the BakFlip is indeed a quality part.

Please know that I am not tryng to change your mind or perception, but based on your last series of thoughts, I'm prompted to set a few things straight as it relates to certain truths and misnomers.

While a one piece fiberglass cover is likely more secure, the BakFlip is super strong and secure in its own right. It's a very robust, tough tonneau cover and can most certainly be locked from the outside, contrary to your belief. The difference is that you only need one key instead of two and don't have any keyholes exposed to dirt, rain, dust and the elements in general. Just lock your tailgate and you're done. We believe OEM locks are better than aftermarket ones too.

Also, the BakFlip G2 and HD can easily be painted to match the color of the truck. This is done every day and I can tell you with absolute confidence that they cost less than a Leer, SnugLid, ARE or Century Lid.

While offering up some opinions, I think readers should also know that with a one piece lid you lose your stake pockets - so you can't use the hard cover with tie downs, bed rails or ladder racks, all of which are possible with a BakFlip. You also get better gas mileage with the lower profile BakFlip as well as superior rear visibility for backing up your truck.
I can haul a couch, desk, refridgerator, lawnmower, bike, motorcycle, quad etc., with my BakFlip on my truck. You can't haul any of these items with any single piece tilting cover.

Aesthetics are very important to some folks and there's definitely a seat for every butt out there, but when it comes to practicality, low profile style, made in the USA quality, functional superiority and the endorsement by multiple OEM's, the BakFlip stands out as a superior product. It is the best selling hard tonneau cover in the world at the moment, and probably wouldn't be if most people didn't share this view.

In closing let me say that I do respect your opinion. Our covers are not for everyone. I believe in healthy competition and healthy discussion and trust that whatever cover you have is the one that suits you and your lifestyle the best.

All the best,

Julian Maimin

Let me tell you...I was on the fence myself about which cover to buy. After doing alot of research and thread reading I decided on the Bakflip HD. This one seemed the most practical and I love the fact that you have 100% access to your truck bed without having to take off the cover.
The deciding factor that pushed me to getting the Bakflip was the customer service I have seen on here in the forums. Julian has gone above and beyond to help Bakflip owners with their issues/problems.
I feel I made the right choice with the Bakflip...then again thats just my opinion.

jmaimin, could you please tell me if BAK makes the genuine Mopar folding Tonneau cover(2011 CC Sport)? I've already ordered it, and its currently sitting at the dealership. I'm just wondering in case I ever need support/parts, etc.

Thanks
Jeff
btw, saw the BAK on an F150 and the fit and finish is top notch. Expensive? Yes, but from the looks, it will last the life of the truck. BAKflip G2 was my first choice, but the dealership added the mopar cover to my purchase at a price I couldn't resist.

THIS is the best picture I have ever seen of a BAKflip F-1. Thanks for sharing, as this is the only picture I have seen that really shows what it looks like....

This may be the picture that sways me to the BAKflip.

Take note: Julian.... MHO
