Mopar hard folding tonneau cover
Julian,
The fit and finish of the equipment is excellent, well made and well thought out. I need help with 3 questions on installing it correctly.
1) the clamps do not seem to go up all of the way and they end up gripping on the curled lip of the sheetmetal part of the truck bed. Is this the way they are supposed to grip the bed??
2) I have an under the rail bedliner so it was easy to notch a little here and there to make it fit. The 72203 came with 2 strips of ABS plastic and the directions don't touch on how to install these pieces and what they should look like when they are done. They don't seem long enough to cover the entire rail of the bed. How do they seal and do I notch out the stakeholes?? Are they really needed??
3) Since I have the under rail bedliner, I installed the rubber gasket that was taped to the top but it wasn't long enough to go completely across the 2 rails and it seemed very thick. There wasn't any photo on how to install it so I assumed it went on top of the bed. Was this a mistake?? Was I supposed to put it on the inside of the back edge??
It didn't take long to install at all, even with the trimming of the bedliner so making any changes would be fairly quick. Can you please point me to any more deatiled of an install video. I've seen the ones online and they seem just outside of what I am looking for information on.
A few tweaks and it will be awesome, looking forward to hearing back from you.

NO JOY! I went to pick up my cover, and installed it myself, as they weren't going to be able to get to it for a few hours.
After getting everything mounted, and finally putting the cover in place ---- SURPRISE !!!
They sent me a HD cover, in an F-1 Box.
Yes, the box was sealed, and stapled.
Now, another one (hopefully, the correct one) is supposed to be here Monday.
Then, another drive back to the dealer !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with the previous poster - their instructions are sorely lacking, and I'm a good mechanic........
And, I already removed my Extange Trifecta, and am waiting for the buyer to pick it up tonite............
Things just don't always work out the way they are supposed to.
edit: upon closer examination, the box was not sealed. The long sideflap staples were not "stapled" and only sealed with tape. Sooo, the box was previously opened. It sure didn't take long for my dealer to rectify the situation.. I'm happy with the cover and the customer service. It really is a much better addition to my truck, than I envisioned. I like it a lot.

hands down the fit and finish is excellent. Once I get my questions concerns addressed I know I'll be another satisfied customer. I e-mailed Jesse at their tech support e-mail address and I'm hoping to have all of my items addressed. I noticed that the install kit that I received was for an HD or g2 since it only had 6 clamps in the package. I also water tested it today after I took it all a part and reinstalled everything. It held up much better against the water this time.

I don't have your address or I would send you the additional set of clamps myself. To expedite getting them, just email your mailing address to oscar@bakliner.com and I will make sure he sends the clamps immediately.
Best,
Julian

Sorry, I didn't notice this email, so I responded to the one below first. Here goes the response to the one above:
1. Don't worry about the long strips of plastic. By your discription they sound like shim strips, but in your case, with your new truck, I don't think you need worry about the. Just discard.
2. The rubber gasket for the cab rail isn't necessary when a bedliner is installed. Again, just set that strip of rubber aside. You can always cut it down to smaller strips if you ever find the need to further insulate your corners etc.
3. I'm not sure what you mean by cutting stake pocket holes. There should be no component in the box that even remotely covers your stake pockets. Please send me images of your install and the part you're considering trimming so that I can comment more accurately on the matter. I'm at julian@bakliner.com.
Cheers,
Julian
Just wanted everyone on the forum to know that I spoke to Ivan from Bak industries. He responded to my request for additional information on my install by calling me personally and explaining each question I had above until I was satisfied that I was going to have the perfect install. Julian is sending me the additional clamps in the mail. I have to admit that after reading about these guys at BAK and now experiencing their customer service first hand I am glad I made the choice I did.

Got it on the 14th, installed it on the 15th. The cover itself came in overall great shape, but the rails... they don't wrap the hinge (if you wanna call it that) that connect the locking arm stays with bubble-wrap - they both literally wore through the box they came in and got ground down a little, losing their finish on the edges... but once they rail are installed, the exposed metal isn't visible.

You can't tell from the photo below, but the overlapping weather stripping on the right tailgate corner had separated (the double-sided foam tape) had gotten pulled off apart during packaging... hopefully I can get some from them under warranty (spoke with Oscar at customer service).
All in all, happy with the delivery, install and product.
