The Hemi with MDS it specifically states 5W20 on the oil cap, owners manual and where ever you may want to look. I have no clue to what a 4.7 uses.

If you have the MDS hemi engine, (06 up to 11) you`re only supposed to run 5w20 oil only.
The older hemi might use 5w30, (pre 06) but i dont have any proof of that.
I think my 2005 hemi truck might have used 5w30 motor oil

would probably run on used Wesson or Cranola,
Let me guess...melted crayons mixed with canola oil.

Cool. Engine oil color matched to my truck.

They make that kind of oil now It's called Quaker-State..I think it's made with Candle wax ,toothpaste and Soybean oil...I wouldn't put that crap in my John Deer..It's the King of Sludge..

I have never had to change oil in a 06' and up Hemi- So I don't reckin I would know what they're supposed to get. I can only speak for the 03'- 05' , which would get 05-w30. Thanks for the correction. A day without learning something, Is a day wasted.

Old wives tale.Biggest issue with it and others was folks just plain not changing oil.The new oils that are designated for late model vehicles it is almost impossible to sludge.Times change.I used QS for years back in the 70s with no issues.QS sells great and has a super oil lineup. www.bobistheoilguy.com if you want to discuss oils and learn something.

I like how half of you just come out and say "X brand is the best" with no proof whatsoever. Probably just based off the whole "well I've used this oil for X years without any issues." All I have to say is that is the WORST way to judge something.

I use Castrol GTX Syntec in ours and it works fine. Had Mobil 1 Synthetic in my G35 for years and recently switched to Castrol EDGE, I have yet to notice anything different.

When I bought my 2001 Dakota, the freind who sold it to me changed the oil at 3,000 miles religiously , He took it to Jiffy Lube here in town. They use 10-w30, No matter what vehicle it is. "4.7 Motors call for 5-w20..My freind didn't know any better.
The Truck was losing oil pressure, It would pick it up and do good for a while, But would eventually go to Zero.I took the valve covers off to find what looked like candles have been melted in it.It was at least 2 inches thick and I couldn't see the valve springs, or rocker arms..I ran Deisel fuel mixed with laquar thinner and Karasine through it long enough to heat it up, It didn't touch it.I had to scrape it out with a screw driver. This Motor is shot because of this recycled crap. As for QS, I have dis-assembled many QS Motors, and every one had sludge..Some worse than others, But wives tale or not, Oil does still sludge, companies do still put wax in it and most of it is partually if not "All- re-cycled"..
