I think piston slap is not normal. Go to another dealership. You could be one of the trucks with the bad exhaust manifold bolts and they need to be replaced. Is it a metal on metal sound or is it more like the sound of an exhaust leak?

Piston slap, huh, never heard of that one before, that's a pretty creative diagnosis. Could you somehow record a sound clip for us and upload it?

Piston slap is not normal, but they may be not describing it correctly. If a Hemi sits for a long time you could hear some lifter tick for a few seconds. There is a big difference there.

Also what year truck do you have? If you have a 2009 was the exhaust manifold bolt RRT performed?

Last.... Do you do your own oil changes, if so, and even if not, what weight are you, or someone else, putting in?

with only 12,000 miles on the truck , I would think the ex. bolt manifold has not been done , and I hear the lifters on a cold morning also just a second. My 09 has 82,000 .
" Drive it some, I promise it won't hurt the truck "

yes it is a 2009 and the exhaust was performed.i dont think it is a lifter.the sound is there every time i dont use the truck for 5 or 6 hours (in winter).wen i start the truck the sound is there until the engine reach near normal temperature, after that it is OK.i do my own oil change with lucas syntetyc 5-20

Mobil 1 and Valvoline as a close second.

I like to use Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 Full Synthetic or Castrol Syntec 5w-30. Mobil-1 isnt as good as it used to be.
