Default Leather seat problem

I bought a 2010 1500 back in september and now both front seats have developed a bump in the middle of the seats. I have had it in to the dealer many times now. First they just realigned all of the matting and tightened up the covers. That didn't work at all. Then they blamed it on the a/c in the seats and said there wasn't a fix for it. I went to the manager of the dealership and they replaced both covers. This lasted about a week and now its doing the same thing again. Has anyone else had this problem? I only have 4000 kms on the truck so its not from abuse or anything.

Keep going back. They have to fix it for you.

Sadly, you're not too far off base.

All leather seats are going to stretch to some degree, and when you add in the perforated leather, it gets worse. However, the seats with leather in these trucks shouldn't stretch as much as they do. I have found that you can slow if not eliminate the problem by doing two things. 1. Don't drag your *** across the seat when getting into and out of the vehicle. I hate to be crude, but if you can get in and sit down with out sliding across, then you wont be stressing the material as much. 2. Hit the seats with a protectant/sealer every week to two weeks. This will keep the material supple and will allow it to go back to its original state before you touched it easier.

Other than that, keep annoying the dealer if you want. Eventually, they will give up and tell you to go on your merry way. Look for Dodge to change the seat material to a leather/suede design in the near future to combat this issue.

I went back to the dealer yesterday and talked to the service manager. He said that he has had this happen to numerous trucks recently and he's going to talk to dodge about a recall. I'm taking it in today and now they have the proper pliers to fix it so hopefully it works.

I can understand if it started to show some wear after a year or so but after 4000 kms it shouldn't be doing this. Also my dad got a 2010 laramie and he hasn't had any issues and he has the perforated leather as well.

Hopefully they can get it figured out.

Thanks for your help as well.

Default leather seat recall

I have a 2009 Laramie with perforated leather seats. The dealer replaced the leather on both front seat bottoms to address possible cracking in the perforations. My seats were not doing that but they replaced them anyway. Not sure if this is related in any way but I know for the perforated leather seats there has been a recall.

Don't feel bad . I have a 2012 that is a bit out of warranty and the outside edge of the material has separated. I took it into and upholstery shop and they told me it was not leather . The Laramie edition is supposed to have leather faced seats . Talked to my dealer about and he said chysler will not do anything about it . It must be nice to be able to advertise leather and give something else . The truck is kept in prestine condition. This is only one of several problems. Chrome on factory running boards is pitting .Gps is all over the place and fuel economy is terrible.Water leaks in the A pillar. We have 12 Dodges in our fleet and this is the worst one I have ever owned.
I think Chysler feels once 60,000 kms. is up it is buyer beware. If we looked after our warranty the way they look after theirs we would have been out of business years ago. Next time we upgrade a truck I think it is time to look at another brand.

If you have the heated seat option, you`ll never stop it from happening. When the seat heats up, the material will stretch from the heat just from your body weight sitting on them. And if you weigh a lot, that usually will stretch the material out as well, if not worse. Keep in mind, the material is thinner with heated seats so that the air flows thru it better... thus less rigid. Some of the materials are also thinner and thicker between all the trucks... basically its a "quality issue". I highly doubt it is/was a recall, or ever will be, because its not concidered a "vehicle safety issue". Ther was a TSB for earlier trucks due to tearing. I believe it was only for the 2009 model trucks... and maybe a handful of 2010`s. Learn to live with it... some are good, some aren`t. If you pester your dealer about it to much, it may have repercussions on you later on when you have a REAL problem.
