silverstars shine brighter, but not as far. they also burn out quick (less than a year).

i just ordered a set of bulbs from recon, Im going to test them out. Theres a guy on ramforumz that retro-fits projectors into housings and has done some amazing work

Yeah i have the recon bulbs right now diamond white in my fogs and their better than stock, but you probably will be dissapointed as i think the silverstars are brighter anyways. I had the recons in my projector and put silverstars back in there.

Now im just waiting to get in town and putting hids in.

Interpunx please keep me posted on how you like the recon's with HID's in them.

I've run the silverstars in my Dakota for years and frankly they too are a little lacking, granted they are heaps better than the factory halogens but still nowhere near bright enough for my liking. The proof will be in the first drive home in the dark I guess, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't be disappointed!
Thanks for all the info, this is good stuff!

Stump3r ill let you know once i get them in, which probably wont be for another 2 weeks i just can't wait.

Also what kind of 2011 are you getting, does it have the quad headlights or dual, and do you have fog lights. If you have dual headlights your gonna cry, ive tried a couple with those lights and i can't believe dodge made those, they should be deemed unsafe they are so dim. Quad system is pretty nice especially with the fogs they help out but they are pretty bright for oncoming traffic. When i had my stock headlights (quads) i found the highbeams to be pointed a lil low.

Like you, i`ve owned dakota`s, they were ok for headlight lighting, not great, but better than some vehicles i`ve owned in the past. I guarantee you love the quad lights in that 2011 sport truck you`re buying, over the dakota lights. I have a 2010 sport, if you aim the lights higher, you`ll proabaly like the headlights just fine. Mine were (like all the rams) aimed way to low from the factory. I re-aimed them and way better now, and they are tons better than the dakota trucks i`ve had in the past for lighting. As for HID, do it right or dont do it at all. I`ve had them, took them back out within a weeks time. I didnt care for the fact of loosing all my sideroad lighting ability, thers alotta deer where i live and i dont like the fact that i cant see the sides of the road with HID headlights. I put my OEM headlights back in, and much happier. I also jumped up to 65watt low beams, 100watt hi-beams. Keep in mind if you happen to do this 65/100watt upgrade, you`ll want to spend the extra $25 bucks for the porcelin pigtail connectors when you jump up to 100watt bulbs. If you dont, the 100watt headlight bulbs will melt the connectors in the back of the bulbs where you plug them in because they get really hot. The porcelin connectors wont melt. I didnt have any codes show up either. I think the guyz with the HID`s are complaining of this because the HID flickers issue. Anyhow, good luck with the new sport, i think you`ll like it as long as you got one that was built on wednesday...lol.

PS....silverstar bulbs, dont bother wasting your money, they aren`t worth it, been ther done that, to much money for a bulb that has less light ability and a short life span. Also, if it has "BLUE" tint on the bulbs, stay far away from those as possible, blue tinted bulbs wont shine very far.

I have driven down some completely black roads in the middle of the night and well I have to save my truck is not lifted or any mods to suspension or lights and with low beams and fogs it is very bright close up, my front camera could lead the way . With the high beams alone it is great as long as no fog, has to be clear even snow or rain...the high beams pretty much cause a wall, the fog lights shine under and give you enough light to see safely. I think you would have problems if you lift your truck but that is not an issue that should be associated with the truck. I thought my lights on another vehicle were getting weak, just happened I was scheduled for 2 year eye test. Funny I can see clearly at night now, amazing what our eyes do with age LOLL.
That Ford has illegal lighting on it, fog lights are not allowed to be on with high beams...pointless in the fog. All it does it make other drivers have to squint. I would like to see two stock trucks like those ones in the pictures.

Just so you know that ford is completely stock and is not on high beams, its on lows, as you cant put your fog lights on at the same time as the highbeams anyways. I was just showing a picture of the difference of regular bulbs and the Recon xenon bulbs.

I think my fears of poor headlights in my 2011 have now been extinguished! I bumped into an old friend tonight that I haven't seen in years and he is driving a 2011 sport. Long story short after a short drive in his truck I have to say the headlights are leaps and bounds better than my old Dakota. I'm still thinking long and hard about HID's and projectors though.
I was also pleasantly shocked at how smooth these trucks ride. It's been over a year since I test drove one and completely forgot how smooth these bad boys are. The wait is really going to be hard now as I know what I'm missing!!!!
