Default transmission shudder

I have a 2010 ram 2500 with the hemi. I have experienced on several occasions a real lazy downshift. Almost a studdering shaking stumbling sensation. Then most recently today while towing it didn't want to downshift and i could hear like a metal on metal grinding/groan. Has anyone else experienced this.

How is it holding up now, still feels like its normal or its always acting up? What type of transmission is in your truck?

I know some people are having some issues with shuttering, but mostly with a tuner installed.

It got me to my hotel. I won't know anything further until the return trip home. It's a 5 speed ram 2500 hemi.

If I'm not mistaken the 2500's have 6 speeds...

The cummins has the 6 speed but the 2500 hemi i believe has the same tranny as the 1500.

It's happened to me twice over the last 8000kms or so. For those of you who are familiar with older veh's. It feels like a transmission kick-down cable has been stretched. I understand these trucks don't have that, but it's the best way I can describe it along with HEMI2500TRX4 description.

I was going to take it to the dealer, however, I can't recreate it on demand, and no code is thrown, so they'd likely just send me on my way, and waste everybody's time.

I had it happen once, it was when going up a small hill holding a constant speed. It felt like it was unsure what gear it wanted (or torque converter lock/unlock repeatedly extremely fast), I left off the gas and bumped the manual shift control down a gear (to 4th) and it instantly corrected it. Several months later I had a solenoid in the trans go bad (would go from 1st to 4th gear)... replaced under warranty. No clue if it is related or not?

R
That is correct only the diesel has the 6 speed. I don't know if the 2500 and 1500 transmissions are identical, but they are both 5 speeds when equipped with the hemi.

Did you ever have an engine light or code come up when your selenoid went bad. Im having the same issue with the torque converter locking/unlocking repeatedly and it threw the P0742 code (torque converter clutch selednoid stuck open)

Truck is at the dealership now hopefully they find the problem.

When the solenoid went out, the light came on and it was a P code (don't remember which one, it was half a year ago). They figured it pretty quick at the local dealership. Had it back in 2 days.
