Default Brake control for 2011 2500

I just bought a 2011 Dodge 2500 diesel, it didn't come with the brake control that is standard in the 3500s. Can I buy one for my 2500, if so, where can I buy one, what is the part number? Do I have to have the dealer install it? Thanks

You can buy a universal brake controller at any auto parts store. You should have got the wire harness if your truck was ordered with a tow package. Solder and heat shrink your connections and plug in to connection under left side of dash. It is to the left of your obd 2 connector.

I would really like to buy a stock brake control like the one in 3500. On my 2500, there is just a "cubby" hole where I'm assuming I could put the stock brake control. And the plug-in is right behind it.

The factory control does not have enough power for heavy towing. I had to have a prodigy control installed and my factory control is not hooked up anymore. If you check other forums you will find people who tow don't like the factory unit.
