One of the many reasons I left California. I'd be paying $1000/month between my wife and I on state income taxes alone and having nothing to show for it - on top of everything being more expensive and inconvenient in Orange County.
Is that $240 for your annual renewal??? I paid $54 last September for to renew my '09 for the first time in WA.

That was for everything (moved from AZ, originally a SoCal boy). Now that you mention it, it included transfer of title, plates and what not... total came to $240 for King County (Seattle). Where are you? I do believe that each county sets their own rates and judging from your comments, I'm hoping next year will be significantly cheaper.

$620!!!!!!!!!!! sounds like more of a sales tax than a registration fee.

$113.40 for 2010 1500 Laramie registration in FL.

HA.. i just took my cali plates off yesterday!

they tried to get me for over $600 for the 2nd straight year.. i said f-em and moved to texas..

while $169 isnt the lowest.. it is much more fair. I hate having to pay for a truck i have already bought and paid the taxes on.. but eh..

through in that 9% income tax that cali charges and im so happy i moved to a no income tax state

not to mention the kind of house you can get here for $300,000 beats million buck homes in west LA

I dont miss that smog either... or the...

well.. as you can tell I HATE cali...

but thats just my opinion

Sounds like vehicle property taxes to me? I pay $28/year for the tag sticker, $35/yr for the safety inspection, about $175/yr for vehicle tax, and $418/yr for full coverage insurance. I'm in NC.

In PA, every year, 81.00 for truck registration and about 46.00 for state emissions inspection. Dealer does free safety inspection or that would be another 24.00.
