Your system down south must work a whole lot different than up here in the very frozen and snow buried north country of Canada.

I pay $72.00 per year for my registration/plates/tags, and my 2011 will run about $1100.00 per year for insurance.

How does it work down south?

74 for the yearly sticker and 1100 and change for insurance for the year, that covers me my wife and my 2 kids can drive it occassionally. We have an Avenger that the insurance is over 2000 a year?? but the plates are still 74. That is a cash grab in Ca. wow. We have our own cash grabs here, for instance emission testing on an older car but not older than 87 you have to have emission tested Ithink every 2 years but if you go and the repairs are more than 700 you get to drive it for 2 years without fixing it but next time it has to be repaired and if I buy a car today new first time emissions comes 5 years down the road after that not sure but everytime you change ownership you must do an emissions test even if it was the day before and it passed. Such a scam

It is $55 to register your truck in South Dakota and no Vehicle/Emission inspection.

I think that every county set their own "excise" tax (which is in addition to the actual registration fee), but since the Eyman $30 car tab initiative - which happened in the mid-1990's - no one's registration renewal should cost more than about $75 annually, for any county. I'm in Chelan county, BTW, so you will probably be a little bit more expensive than the $54 that I paid.

I remember before the Eyman initiative, renewal tabs on a new truck were in the range of $800. And that was fifteen years ago - I'd hate to think what that cost would be now, without the limits to tab fees that we voted in. Would probably be like CA.

Mine was property tax, sorry. The personalized tags and registration run about $50 each.

I pay around $110 a year for my yearly sticker here in Wisconsin. But also here you can get a sticker on your truck that is A B or C. The letters all pertain to your gross vehicle weight. I have a C on my truck, but if I went with a B sticker then it would be about 25-30 cheaper for the sticker. I went with the higher sticker, because when I bought my first truck 9 years ago the dealer told me that if I went with a B sticker I could only tow so much on a trailer, but If I went with a C, then I could tow more if needed.
