1st off that dealer sucks, big time . Its 4:00 and there is nothing they can do? How about calling Enterprise to get a car delivered to you?
Go to another dealer, mine put me in a car when they had to install the auto start.

Don't put up with That BULL SH>T...

No kidding, that dealer blows. I would call Chrysler about the dealer and give them a horrific review.

As far as the dead battery on the showroom, that does happen, My wifes 05 grandcaravan was dead when we bought it on the showroom floor, was fine after, but this car will chew through batteries every 2 to 2.5 years, if the dealer really replaced the battery the first time in (doubt it) then I would look at alt or radio.

As far as the dead battery from the showroom is concerned, that happens, my wife's 05 gc van was dead when we bought on the showroom floor, no problems since except it does go through batteries every 2.5 years, if the dealer really replaced the battery (doubt it), then I would check the alt or radio, and there is a chance the batteries could be bad, I ordered a gel battery on line, came bad, they replaced it with another and all is well.

Problematic new vehicles happens to the best of cars.

How the dealership responds to it is what makes the difference.

I've owned many domestics and German imports over the past 30 years.

In general, seems the the domestics have a difficult time grasping the concept of proper after sales service. In general, I've had much better experiences with German Imports than the Domestics in regards to after-sales service.
It was surreal to watch Chrysler and GM begging in front of Congress for taxpayers money to stay afloat several years ago.

What will it take for these people to learn that treating a loyal customer like this is ultimately self defeating?

OP, good luck with your delema, hopefully they do the right thing and either 'fix' your issue, or get you into another truck.

Today the truck started...but he took it town to wash it and didn't shut it off.

He was talking about putting the boat battery in the back in case that it died on him but there is no way that he could do anything about it.

Isn't that sad...a brand new $28k pickup truck and he doesn't trust it to drive 10 miles to town and back

I'd be at the dealership on Saturday when they are the most busy raising HELL until you got proper service.

Sounds like the alternator for sure IF they actually tested the truck for a draw like they told him. A bad component in a new vehicle can happen to anybody, the attitude of the dealer is what really sucks here.

Does he have an attorney? Sometimes just a letter from a lawyer is all it takes to jump start a dealership.

I had a Furd I bought new in '97 that dropped a piston while I was trailering my boat home from a bass tourney with only 14k miles on it. Dealership tried to pull a fast one on warranty repair because they were saying this crap about using the truck for tournaments was commercial use and my warranty didn't apply. Then they tried to pull the old "truck was modified" deal on me because I had a 3" body lift and a cat back exhaust.
A single letter from my lawyer (which was when I learned about Magnuson/Moss) and the dealerships owner called me at work to tell me I must have "misunderstood" the service manager. Yeah, like I can misunderstand the phrase "we ain't covering that engine under warranty"!!! A$$holes!!! Two days after I got the repaired truck back is when I became a first time Ram owner...

I'm with you on that brother! In fact I did it once myself.

Several years ago I bought a brand new XLE Camry for the wife, second time at the dealership for an oil change at 6k miles, the tech changing the oil must of been trying to see how much extra funding he could pull in that night, and somehow convinced my wife to swap out the air cabinet filter and purchase a new one. When I got home she showed me a bill for $114.00 in regards to replacing the filter, $90.00 of this being labor! The tech chargerd an hour and 15 minutes labor time. I then went out into the garage, whipped open the glove box, popped out the plastic cover, and ripped the filter out in 20 seconds flat!

Next morning I was at the Toyota Dealership demanding a full refund, and since they only wanted to offer me a free oil change, I made a banner the size of my Dodge Ram tailgate that read "S---- (Not mentioning dealers name) maintenance dept. scammed my wife!", and sat across from the there entrance every morning during rush hour traffic, and since I worked nights, I had all the time in the world, plus it just happened to be the route I took home every morning. After the second day, success, the maintenance manager (who claimed he was not made aware of the problem) refunded us.

X2, good advice. My first thought was the Alternator is taking the battery out.
