2011 Ram fails after 469 miles
I'd hope the alternator was checked by now . . . even a monkey would know that'd be the second thing you'd check, second only to the battery itself.
took 11 months for the dealer to fix my truck with a p0174 code... turns out all along it was a torn o-ring on one of the injectors leaking air into the system on cold mornings.
total parts list into the truck for this all... 4 new o2 sensors, new PCV valve, another set of o2's, New PCM, New cats and ypipe, new exhaust manifolds, and in the end 8 new injectors..
and that doesn't count that I took the truck there 5 times before they would even look at it because the MIL would come on.. i would call make an appt soonest they had.. usually 2 days.. light would go off before i got there and they would send me packing..
so the point here is... even though a monkey should be smart enough to check the alternator.. never and i mean never underestimate the stupidity of a dealership technician

Hope it doesn't happen again. Dealer told me the same thing about one on the showroom ... battery dying with customers checking it out. Turned out it was the puddle lamps not turning off. Mine ended up doing the same thing but was fixed with a flash.
We discovered a feature that turns off the lights on the mirror but it also deactivates the inside lights as well.
If it were me, I would be up there having a holy fit...but he is not me
I seriously think that there is some other "bug" that is the problem here and that we just put a bandaid on an arterial wound.
Raising **** in the dealership is something that used to work but you look more like some idiot ranting and taking up the time of the other customers. I used to do that, it pays to be kind they have no choice to be kind back. I hear people are having a hard time getting chrome clads replaced, I went in on I believe Wednesday and next day rims were there. Dealership had nothing to go on since they are the ones who hand wash my vehicle on a fairly regular basis, in fact it was there just under 2 weeks prior to us noticing the green corrosion, we went back to wash bay they tried some cleaner and it helped but not enough....new rims, funny thing is the girl said should she book an alignment, I said why? She told me whenever you get new tires you should get one, I explained I am getting new wheels not tires...she could not grasp the concept. I had to finally instead of explain why I did not need one especially if they put the same tire in the same spot on the vehicle. I told her finally that if I need an alignment then they should cover it since I would not be removing my wheels at all if the rims had not corroded. She comes back after a 2 minute hold session, and said she apologized and I don't need one she checked with the Service Manager....ya of course if they have to foot the bill. Besides I have a front end shop I use in town that I rely on and trust. I think even if there were parts under warranty like balljoints etc. I might get them don't as long as warranty covers but after that when I pay I will be there....life time on parts.
By the way I had that issue on my 2000 Dakota, it had an aftermarket battery in it when I bought it, I asked why they said the one in it was dead. I was happy the battery was a lot bigger and more cranking amps etc. than the stock. I looked at one and well I felt that was a good problem to have at that time. I can't believe they cannot figure this issue out. I would go somewhere else for sure or go back the fourth time and get the lawyer to send in the letter telling them you want your money back 4 times is it, I wish we had that here in Canada, not for my RAM for a Neon we had the A/C several trips, was a drag that summer it was so hot too.

It's hard work, dirty work, and really doesn't pay that well for what they know and the 20k in tools they need. Keep an eye out if you can, but cut 'em some slack, too.
Some of you all ought to try repairing or running a service dept. Its always a Tylenol moment. Depending on towns and locations some places its almost impossible to attract experienced techs and so on.
this shouldn't be a customer problem though, tells me the dealer isn't paying enough.
