No need for dumping the truck when gas prices get crazy. If your in a winter climate like I am you idle it a bit less, take your foot out of the gas, drive a little bit slower on the highway and it will all add up.
I can't downgrade as I need a truck for work and a 4x4 to boot. Just don't drive it like it's a hopped up sports car and you'll be fine. That and start charging cash when people need to borrow you and your truck for hauling stuff!

I guess I would be alone here but I don't even worry about the cost to fill up. Actually, I didn't even worry about it when I bought my V-10 30ft rv that costs $275 to fill up. If you have to worry about the cost if fill ups maybe you should not buy it in the first place.

I don't care if it's $7.00 a gallon. I'm keeping my truck!

That's all part of "the game". When gas was $1.25 a gallon and they wanted to raise the price to $2 without public outcry, they created a "shortage" and jumped the price to $2.50 a gallon, then when everything settled down, they eased it back to $2 AND EVERYBODY WAS HAPPY!

They wanted more for a gallon, then there is unrest in the middle east and WHAM, all of a sudden it's $3.50 and then after some time and a few congressmen and senators voice in with their "feel good" crap, it's settles down to $3 a gallon AND EVERYBODY WAS HAPPY!

Now they want a bump, it'll be over $4.50 a gallon because their is an uprising in Libya (who produces about two tenths of one percent of the world's crude oil). Then they'll lower it to $4 a gallon AND EVERYBODY WILL BE HAPPY!

I thought collusion was illegal???

What really pisses me off is that the stuff sitting in my gas tank came out of my backyard and was refined but a half hour drive away from my house and I'm paying over a buck a liter (about $4.18/USGallon)for it. Something so wrong about that!

we drive trucks, they will never get great gas mileage. if your worried about mpgs, dont drive a truck. if you dont NEED a truck, dont drive one. I work construction, and own a landscaping company. I fill my bed on the daily, tow weekly, and then haul motorcycles on vacations.

by the time you trade your diesel in and they dont give you $h!t for it, and you buy a gas one, you'll be out 10-20 grand. is that really worth the extra $1000 your going to spend this year in gas? your going to keep the truck for how long 5 more years before getting a new one? unless this truck is staying with you for 10+ years, i wouldnt go trading it in

by the way guy who posted the motorcycle,

THANK YOU

i had a bumper sticker that said "want mpgs, ride 2 wheels"

i use to ride everyday, the only time i didnt was like december to march when the roads were heavily salted and sanded. now after multiple crashes, i've learned to value my life a little more and its been sitting for a few months. but yea, buy a motorcycle for nice days if you dont use your truck for work. bikes get 30-40 mpgs
Gas will go down, the oil and commodities bubble is about to burst. I receive royalty checks every month from the oil and natural gas on my land in south Texas. I have been informed my check amounts are going to go down as well as the amount of oil that will be removed from my tanks. This is all do to slow demand and the abundance of stock on hand.

They wont ever be happy until we are on par with europe`s price per gallon.

I Just bought a CIVIC. I did all the math and for the cost of one tank a week of gas in my truck i was able to make a car payment and pay the insurance with no other money out of pocket than i was already spending. Theres two plus to doing this you save on the gas but better yet your keeping wear and tare and miles off that new truck.

thats what i would do is just buy a beater car for 1000-1500 bucks....

i bought a 96 Maxima for 1000 bucks, got around 25 mpgs....i had it for two years and all i did was regualr oil changes, alternator and belt.....sold it with 199K and it still ran excellent.

I sold the Maxima a couple months ago, but i love my truck, and i wont get rid of it....if gas is going to be a factor, ill buy another beater car....easy as that....

but what gets me is this....why would they keep upping the gas price? its not going to make more gas.....
