key fob problems
My 2011 Challenger I bought new has the push button keyless entry and start. Most of the time it works very well but there are some issues. I have found my car unlocked when leaving work several times when I know I locked it. Also I was having problems getting the car to allow entry and would not start because it did not sync with my fob. I replaced batteries and it worked good for a little while then did it again. I found the entire issue. It's a bad design in the fob for the battery. Open the fob and look at the battery negative leads two metal pins on the edge of battery. Make sure they actually touch the battery. The most important lead is the positive one that sticks up just at edge of battery compartment. Notice that the casing is rubber and what happens is this little positive battery pin gets pushed down if anything squeezes the rubber on the fob. This casing needs to be made hard shell to keep this from happening. Without the positive lead of the battery making contact with the electronics on the rubber then there is no fob for the car to detect. It will intermittently work as it touches. I bent the positive lead up just a little very delicately and now no issues. It's a bad design that needs fixed in the future.
My key fob somehow put my drivers and passengers windows down. I had the batteries changed in both key fobs. That didn't solve the problem, so I had a locksmith sell me 2 new key fobs and they programmed them. That seemed to solve the problem but on a recent road trip it happened again.
Scenario: I had parked the truck, locked it, started to walk away and the windows went down.
A few months ago someone told me that pushing one of the buttons a number of times would open the windows - has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?
FYI, when entering my vehicle info it wouldn't let me select the correct year of truck - only went to 2010, my truck is a 2011.
Many thanks,
Michael Jones

On some vehicles, although I'm not sure your 2011 would be one of them, there is an "express down" feature where you press and hold the Unlock button on the fob to lower windows and, if equipped with a sunroof, open the sunroof too. If you have an owner's manual you can check that to see if your truck has the feature, or you can try just pressing an holding the Unlock button in close proximity to the truck to see if the windows roll down. You probably have to hold the button down 3 or 5 seconds, then continue holding until the windows get to your desired level. Pressing and holding the lock button would roll them back up and lock the doors.
If your truck does in fact have this feature, then I'd be inclined to suspect you have a failing unlock button in one of your programmed fobs that is causing an intermittent Unlock signal. I'm assuming your truck also is unlocked when you find it with the windows down.
