Did you ever get resolve to the noise? I have experienced the same thing at 21K and figured out my noise issue. I have the round chrome nerf bars and the plastic boot that buffers the tube against the brackets had worn through and as the frame twists the nerf bar would rub metal to metal and cause "Clunk, and Pop noises at any time. I had to make a hard wood buffer piece to stop the noise. It Works!

I took my 2010 dodge 1500 BH (35,000 miles) in for a perceived slight clunking noise when I was going down washboard gravel roads. It appeared to be on the drivers side and I could feel it through the steering wheel, but, it would only happen on choppy roads. Long story short, Took it to the dealer (who actually does a pretty good job) and they tried to recreate it unsuccessfully and put it on the rack and inspected steering and suspension and could not find anything wrong. The service advisor mentioned we could take a dodge off the lot down the same road and would probably get the same result. I was in a hurry and didn't take him up on the offer. I am going to keep an eye on it.
