2011 1500 5.7 Fuel Pump Issue
#31
If your fuel pump is dead your truck will not have problems starting. Your truck will simply not start. No amount of starting fluid will make a truck with no fuel pressure start. If you were able to start your truck and it stays running your issue is not your fuel pump. You could have a fuel pressure problem due to a clogged screen or a pump issue but it's unlikely since you said the truck finally started. When was the last time you did plugs? Any codes showing?
And you should NEVER use starting fluid on a modern fuel injected engine. For one, it won't do any good. Starting fluid served a purpose on carburetor engines but it's useless on modern Port injected EFI. If you successfully started your truck today the starting fluid had nothing to do with it. It was a coincidence. EFI does not benefit from it. Aside from the fact it won't work you can cause massive damage if it backfires with starting fluid in the intake. Plastic intake manifolds have been known to blow apart with the potential to kill you. Kiss your warranty goodbye if you blow the engine up using it.
And as for your warranty, the fuel pump is NOT covered by the 100k powertrain warranty. But based on your symptoms so far, i don't think the fuel pump is the issue.

Is the check engine light on? How long does it take to start and when it does start does it stay running with no issues at all?

no check engine
No check engine light and it take about 5 to 15 minutes to start some times it won't start bout when it does it stays on with no issues
Highly unlikely it's the spark plugs. At most overdue spark plugs might give you a rough idle but they would not keep your truck from starting. Plenty of people ignore the 30k mile change and wait till 100k and i have not heard of anyone with a dead

I had no engine light, or error codes. I thought that maybe I ran out of gas....put a couple of gallons in with no luck. Is the engine turning over? When you turn the key to on (not starting the engine) you can hear your fuel pump . I paid close attention to this after I had mine replaced. How many miles?

I had this exact same issue on my 2011 Durango before it completely failed on me (different reason). After going back multiple times, had the fuel pump replaced along with the fuel pump RELAY..problem was solved. Make sure they replace the relay for you, that ended up being the true problem with my Durango.
