Towing
Yeah its a Hemi and yeah it'll pull a trailer.
Trailer is about 6000 lbs. another 1000 lbs. of gear and it pulls pretty good, head winds and hills can be an issue, but pulls 110+ km hr on the level with no problem. Only mods are coil bags with about 38 psi in them, outside temp was about +30 and no engine or tranny heating issues. Was thinking of pulling ATV trailer behind 5th wheel, it's 19' and with 2 ATV'S would add another 3000 lbs. Think that might be a bit much weight and length wise.

.. I know this is not what you signed on to hear, but I feel I have no choice...
Guys like you scare the living S*IT out of me on the highway.
Yep.. its got a hemi... yep.. it'll pull it. But in an emergency, can you STOP that rig?
Flat land, no problem.. what about heading down a pass, like the Roger's pass in BC?
The fact you are looking at adding another 3k to that load makes me want to force you to the shoulder and smack you around a bit.
Do everyone a favour. Leave it parked until you have something bigger than a friggen over-sided car to pull it.

First of all I can give you my address you can come and do your best to as you say, "smack me". The trailer I am pulling has breaks that work real good, B.C does not allow to pull a trailer behind a trailer. I have been pulling trailers of all sizes for years with different trucks, 3/4 tons, diesels and gas. I believe I said the ATV trailer behind the 5th wheel is too much for this truck, so chill out dude. If my truck is rated and equipped to pull 9000 lbs. and I am at 7000 lbs. what is your problem. If a rig like mine scares you what about all the semi's and there huge loads, or the inexperienced car drivers out there, maybe if your that paranoid YOU should do everyone a favor and stay off the road, you obviously have never pulled anything with your pretty 1 ton truck.

They give you a website regarding towing capacities. As far as legally that is up to state or provincial laws.

Yeah, I've been to to the web site before where you input your truck etc. I just wonder if there is any info reguarding 5th wheels in particular. I talks about hitch weight limits, towing and proper hitches but nothing really on towing 5th wheels.
I just think about if there is ever a traffic fatality the judge would like to read where it says 5th wheel towing specs etc.
I know I am only allowed up to 7000gvrw due to 20" wheels and up to 3900 per axle.
I wonder what a 5th wheel like yours at the bed hitch would be plus the actual rear axle weight would be on the scale. I woud think it's close to the 3900 allowable but not really sure.
Sorry for hijacking your thread but I would like a 5th wheel camper that can hauler my atv inside.

But my "personal" preference is not to exceed 80% of the rated towing capacity even though I have at times ignored my own advice for a very short trip.
I have owned about a dozen trailers and every time I get a new truck I thoroughly analyze all the weight capacities/limits to ensure I meet that 80% target.
As a sidebar, the best tow truck I've ever owned for the 4,200lb class trailer was my 2005 Dakota. Great pulling power, outstanding brakes, unbelievable tracking in crosswinds and reasonable economy 11-14mpg. The 2009 Ram beats it out in seat comfort, engine cooling capacity and headwinds but that's it.
Oh yeah...one more thing: purchase price. A 2009 Dakota would have cost a whopping $4,000 more than a comparably equipped Ram. Money talks.
