DIY Oil Change
I let the dealer do my oil changes every 3K miles. They use a Dodge approved oil and Mopar filter and with a coupon book I got with the truck and the email coupons that I get from Dodge, I can usually get an oil change and either a tire rotation or wiper blades for under $25. All oil change records are at the dealer and there can be no issues with the lifetime powertrain warranty.
Autozone will take up to 5 gallons at a time. Valvoline now sells a recycled blend of oil.

I would hope that the EPA(or the Fed Gov't) has better things to do than to call out the used oil investigators and spend all that time and money trying to ID who left 7 qts of used oil at a closed parts store. But considering the last 2 years' Govt. performance, anything could happen.

I do my own but, I have access to an USAF auto skills center. They have all the tools, lifts and a place to dump your own oil and filter. I keep records of my changes and tape the receipts for the oil and the stall time on the sheet that I write the mileage and such down on. Usually only takes me about 20 mins to do and I get a chance to do an inspection on the underbody while the oil drains out.
I put mine out with the recycling as long as you mark the bottle with what it is they take it provided they have room just a small area but so far they always take it must not be a lot of diyers on this route
Leaving the oil on their doorstep isn't very good advice. The EPA fine for doing so is $5,000 per container. They will split the fine with whoever turns you in if you're seen doing it. They'll do a spectroanalisis and link it back to your vehicle. But, like you said, they are required by Federal Law to take the used oil, unless their collection container is full.
That's crazy talk. Doing all that to find out who left 7 quarts of oil? Sounds safer to just dump it down the storm drain....relax, I'm just kidding guys.
