Headlight malfunction
Yup ... it's definately a short issue. They work, they don't work, they work, they don't .... I'm tearing it open now to see what I can come up with. Got the dielectric grease and hope it's an easy fix. keep you posted.
Thanks at least yours work sometimes mine are completely out and I tried to trace them back to the TIPM but I got lost and didn't want to mess anything up in there. So I'm just waiting for those little plastic caps to come in and I'll be at the dealership to have them fixed. I'll keep you posted if I get a solution before you do also.
Well, I have good news (at the moment) but it's not very helpful info! After finally getting the lamp out I started jiggling wires by the bulb housing. The lights would flicker some times, but for the most part stayed on. I couldn't get the f'n plug to disconnect (green and black w/ a red tab) and since the lights stayed on, I just put dielectric grease where the wires connect in to the housing. Buttoned it back up and it's staying on for now. Hitting the car wash shortly, so we'll see. I'm guessing it's a temp fix for now. Sorry I don't have any more 'definite' type of info for ya. Keep me posted on what you come across and I'll let you know how long this fix holds up for me.
I am having this issue as well. My 2010 Lone Star's lights were working fine just the night before, but then the passenger side lowbeam quit working. Later in the day, the high beam quit working. I could not find my test light, but it appears (from testing with bulbs) that I am not getting any power to the 3-wire plug on the passenger side. The driver side works flawlessly.
I do have HIDs, but have full digital ballasts and capacitors hooked in to eliminate the "flicker." I tested the circuit with halogens last night as well, and I had nothing.
I even tried resetting the PCM (removing neg cable) and scanning for codes (none stored, no CEL). Very confused here, because, like I said, the lights worked just fine one evening, then the next morning, they didn't...

I have the same issue on 2009 ram 1500. Passenger headlight comes on every now and then, but is mostly out. When it first happened (about 6 months ago) I replaced the bulb, checked the lights and it didn't work. Checked it again a few minutes later and it was working fine. That lasted about 2 months, then back out it goes only to shine bright once or twice a week. The two dealerships in my area have not heard any other complaints about this issue. However, my father owns a 2010 ram 1500 and has an issue with the driver side headlight. His is mostly on, and goes out every now and then.

As for the other posts, sounds like a bad ground or loose connection, keep tracing wires back from the headlamp and checking/testing connections
My 09 has started to do this as well. I am going to take the headlight assembly out tonight and see if I can find any issues. If not, then I will take it to the dealer and let them find it on their dime.

I just joined because I also have the same problem with my 2009 RAM and I am frustrated because I don't think I have found anyone here or anywhere else mentioning that they need to start a recall fo our vehicles on this.
The recall centre does not look at google searches to initiate a recall, they need complaints in a formal maner and that can be in the simple form of a phone call and they don't need a lot especially if you are in Canada.
Canadian complaints 1-800-333-0510 ask for a defects investigator and give him your details.
So far I appear to be one of very few that have done this.
The dealers don't care unless it is an official recall or you are under 60k warranty, why would they it is cash for them if you let them fix it. If you fix it yourself and you have a fire, etc you are on the hook not them.
THEY WILL NEVER KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM IF I AM THE ONLY ONE TO OFFICIALLY COMPLAIN! CALL NOW.
