Hey guys. Ive been reading on the internet about the Mopar 4 inch lift that Dodge dealerships can do to maintain the warranty. However, the truck Im considering lifting (2011 4WD, 1500 crewcab, 4.7L) is of the "plain jane" category, if that makes sense. Most of the pictures I see on the internet of the lift seem to be applied to the trucks that are of the more expensive type of truck(SLT, Laramie...). My question: How will the lift look on a stripped down model of Ram? Will the lift not be as tall? Im obviously looking to add wheels and tires as well(20in and 35s). Thanks for the help!

 

the way i see it u are just starting with a more bare canvas than the people are and it will be more unique than the rest and i say if u want to lift it then lift it and u never know some u see might be a more basic truck than u think. thats just my 2 cents.

As long as the plain jane model has the coil springs in the back, then you should have any issues at all. As far as I know, the only 1500s that come with leaf springs are the TRX/Outdoorsman. So, the kit should bolt on or replace the right parts just like any other SLT, Laramie, or Sport.

You might want to check on the height of the front end though. I'm pretty sure the kits are built for the weight of the 5.7, so a 4.7 might make it sit a little higher up front. Of course that's all depending on how much different the 4.7 weighs compared to the 5.7. It's only a liter, so it can't possibly be that much.

 

i don't blame u on doing the checking before commiting and yeah as long as it has coil link setup u should be fine as war horse said. just make sure its what you want and i think u are making sure of that. it will all work out in the end. if u do get the truck you will probably fall in love with the truck.

Awesome! Thanks for the replies guys. Im still debating on buying the truck and having the work done, but atlease I know if I do buy the truck I should get the look I want. Im going from a 2" dropped Cobra(easy drop. just coil springs which I did on my own), to a lifted full size truck. So the difference should be noticable to say the least.

 

TRX/TRX4/Outdoorsman still all use coil spring rear suspensions

 

All ram 1500s have essentially the same suspension. the only difference is that the struts in the outdoorsma/trx are set up to run about an inch taller in front than all the other trucks.
