Well got it back yesterday, had a new Durango Tuesday and part of Wednesday. They are really nice on the outside but unless you get the high end one the interior is fairly cheap looking. That is not good. This must be a special rental option setup or something cuz I can't even build one like it. Well they have 3 actuators on the bill and 2 covers or doors or something like that. I hope this does not become an after warranty expires deal. It was like there for 3 days total working on it. They were guessing at what it was from the looks of the bill.

ouch, mine is doing the same knocking and no more air out teh defrost vent. I'm out of the 36k warranty so this does not sound good and looks like you need to pull the console and part of dash to open the box where the blend doors are. F'n recall for this so I hope they would just cover it since maybe mine went bad before this recall was issued and dealer missed it when doing the HVAC recall.

Well if not I figure it took them 2 days so probably a grand to fix it. I think I would learn how to do it myself or hook up with a tech and ask him what to do, they had problems with mine, I see they ordered 3 actuators and 2 some kinda doors and some other parts. Scares me for the future but I have 6 years extended and I will not come close to the mileage.

take it in, this is not an issue of your warranty. They had a recall for this problem and you are having issues with exactly what it was supposed to fix.

I mentioned that and well what the recall to fix was , was for a different door or part of the HVAC. Mine was a different part. This they have a recall for it also but it is different according to my service guy. But I am not at the 36 mos and I have extended anyway so he might just be pretending to be intelligent. It happens there, I just let it go unless it actually affects me or my vehicle. They try but they don't know **** about the vehicles, you tell them there is a knocking coming from inside the dash behind the radio switches area, they ask all kinds of prompted questions then when you tell them they don't know what you are talking about they just put it down. Have a look on your receipt sometimes and read what they put, rarely is it what you told them LOL.

I never understood why a dealership would hire service writers that don't know anything about cars. Many don't know a lugnut from a wingnut.

The reason is if you know something they have to pay for the knowledge this way all they do is act like a go between, I personally thing the techs should be their own Service person, at least you won't have to explain it 12 times and try to explain to someone who do not understand at all. I must admit the dealership I am using now has gotten better. Certain Reps are knowledgeable, I love when they tell you something can't be done and then you show them it done.

Had the recall done this spring and the servo broke afterwards. Took it off (it's behind the glove box door and to the left) and inspected it. It's the one that controls temperature. Some of the plastic gears inside were stripped. So I set the temp door for max cool, put the servo back in, and unplugged it. It's been that way all summer, only on long trips do I have to turn the A/C on/off ( or open a window). Now that it's fall, I need adjustability so I will replace it myself, it's only $40 and takes about 3 minutes. In my case, replacing doors and other things are not needed.

That is exactly what they did the first day, the Friday I brought it in. Was not the problem They put it back to gether and I had to drive it like that all weekend. Lucky there was no need for defrost because it would not go. Then they took apart the dash found out what they needed and then the got the right parts and put them in. It had to stay overnight because it was half day to take apart, it needed parts they didn't have so they gave me a Durango rental part of my warranty. Was one with the 3.6L, had some power, not like my hemi no way close, those HP numbers are I think a farse but anyway it was like I said spunky, would be better if it was not AWD. Anyway it seems to be working now. Hopefully the last time it needs to go in for that stuff.
