Default Houston we have a problem with the F1 Bakflip

Well, first just want to say I have enjoyed my cover and customer service from Bak has been good to me on previous issues. I was washing my truck today and noticed that the cover looked like it had a white haze to it, upon closer inspection I noticed that the cover had fiber showing randomly in different areas on all 3 panels as if it was delaminating, and I also notice very tiny poruous holes also in random order, wait for it!!!! There are also small cracks again randomly throughout the cover. Not happy but the cover is thankfully still under the 2 year warranty, so far I have sent Julian an email with pics (I would put them on here but they don't do the problem justice) and awaiting what I need to do next, hopefully they will honor their warranty and replace the cover, I will update. Any one else have issues, I live in sunny South Florida.

Had my F1 for just over two months now. Haven't noticed any issues yet with mine, but I will keep an eye on it now.

Mine is 22 months old and I am very meticulous about my truck, received a response today from the the VP they wanted to know what I used to clean and if it is exposed to alot of salt (since it looks like a white haze which is actually the fibers reflecting in the light). We had a grass fire recently in the county north of us and I originally noticed the haze but thought it was the ash that was coming down from the wind and yes 60 miles away, yesterday when I washed it thought it was gone until the cover started to dry and thats when I took a closer look at it. As far as the salt I live 20 miles from the ocean, but its not like living on the coast, and I use meguiars car wash on it just like the truck and clean the seals with armor all, I would imagine since this was one of the first ones produced in Dec of 2009 there could of been problems, don't know, it happens. According to the VP they have not had this issue as of this date, which is good to know, just hope they honor their warranty, will keep you guys updated. I'll try to get a pic up.

I've had problems with BakFlip's customer service in the past. Don't talk with Lauren and only deal with the VP, Julian. He is very cooperative.

I purchased their heavy duty cover and very light hail caused my cover to look like a golf ball. I got to looking at the cover and found you could dent it with your finger. They claim the HD is hail resistant, so I called them and Lauren was a total bit**. Julian had the cover replaced, and I guess all the complaints similiar to mine spawned the F1, which is supposed to be dent resistant.

I will continue to buy BakFlip merchandise..they are American made and just as good, if not better, than foreign crap. As soon as I have the cash, I too plan to purchase an F1.

I have dealt with Julian and other CS on my previous problems, my experiences have been all positive, won't bad mouth anyone not my style and doesn't get to the end of a problem, but your right someone not doing it for you, go higher on the COC, I too like their products, we will see.

Andrew is the person to talk to, he took care of a issue for me under warranty. If you explain things to him, he is great at taking the time to listen, and get the required approvals to warranty/replace the cover if it falls under that issue area.

Hope that helps, I too have had only positive experiences with them

Well they are sending me a new cover on Friday, I want to thank Julian and Lauren for honoring their warranty on their products, I will continue to advocate the Bak line of products and their warranty for their products.

Did anyone give you an explanation, as to what happened????? Any suggestions for future maintenance to avoid it in the future?
