When installed properly the Timbrens do not engage the axle and there is no difference in ride quality. There should be about 1 to 1 1/2 inch gap between the Timbren and axle unloaded. Once you load the truck the Timbren rests on the axle and supports the load and keeps the rear from sagging. Timbrens do not replace the springs.

I was gonna say something had to be funky there, cause I've had Air Lift bags on the rear of my truck since '06 and have had some crazy stupid weight on them and they are still as good as they were on day one...

Do you have the airlift 5000 cause you don't have coils right? If that's the case those are much better than the 1000s. I don't think they sell the 5000 for the 4th gen unless i make a bracket for it.

Here's a picture of my truck all loaded up. The truck pulls amazingly good with the 4.56 in there. A really huge difference this would not be fun with 3.55.
Anyways i figured out what i'll probably do. I'll try and get the shorter bags they use to have i think those will fit perfect (http://shop.airliftcompany.com/produ...3B_COIL_SPRING), i will contact airlift see what they have. I'll also get the aircells for extra support. (http://shop.airliftcompany.com/produ...E_LOAD_SUPPORT)

I just came accross this air suspension. http://www.totalloadcontrolsuspensio...-1500-1-2.aspx Bags are outside the coils and bolt on to the stock rubber stoppers. They do not have a kit for a lift yet. I have a 6" lift, however I'm gonna probably by the kit and bolt on a block spacer inbetween. I talk to the guys at TLC and they said it should be ok just they won't cover the warranty if anything happens.

However i have the airlift bags and bump stops extention for over a year now with no problems. I might consider these once the my bags fail and that the price drops down quite a bit. At least i would have the compressor and lines all routed already.!

I use Arnott 5klb rated bags (Goodyear Contitech bags) but they dont sell them for Ram 1500's anymore.
Hellwig sells the identical set-up but they get $100 more, $339. Mounts over axle and U-bolts around frame. No spring involvement, no drilling, no welding!
Mine have been on for 4yrs and have not lost any air in the winter even when my truck sits for 2mo at a time.
I think Hellwig buys the Arnott bags and puts their own name on the box.
