Decisions ... 1500 or 2500 ?
glad to see someones hitting up track days!
you can always put 2 sport bikes in the bed of the truck and the rest in the trailer. but if thats gonna be a recurring situation, I might think about a different trailer or different set up in the trailer. In this recession, I have seen some trailers at unbelieveable prices.
and I dont mean to throw you off your thought, or original question, like I just said in another thread, its all just food for thought to make sure your at the best situation when you come out of this.
Those bikes arent too heavy, you could pull it off with a 1500, and obviously a 2500 no problem. I guess my biggest thing is just, if your going to be loading those bikes up all the time, and making a purchase like a new truck, might as well figure it all out and do it right from the start. That way you dont have to waste any money you dont need to, and loading those bad boys all the time wont be a pain.

well i was thinking of decreasing the ramp angle by hooking up the trailer first and then using ramps to get it from the ground to the trailer level then another ramp to get it from trailer level to bed level... should make it easier to push up that way
any experience with the ram boxes ? they seem like a neat idea but seem like they would use up the space needed for 1 of the bikes

While ramboxes are new, this issue has been around for a long time. It's the same issue as having a step-side and folks have managed OK with them. My biggest issue is that I always end up with a shell on my bed for different reasons and you can't put a shell on the rambox. Another possible drawback with a rambox is that for resale you may end up with a smaller pool of buyers. Just a thought, it may actually be a plus. I think with the 6'4" bed (2500 Ram) non rambox you can put in several 8' 2x4 sideways (corner to corner) and still close the tailgate, I don't believe you can do that with the rambox. I wish that I could have gotten the 6'4" bed on my 1500 so that with a shell on the bed I could get in there and close it up and camp when the weather is cold. When I bought my truck I test drove a 2500 CTD with the 6'4" bed but my wife hated the ride on the freeways here in the Los Angeles area. I didn't really need the the CTD so the ride of the 1500 sold us on our current truck.

were having a rambox field day on another thread. the rambox is definitely taking up the space of 1 bike, so the trailer is open? have you thought about changing your set up to allow more bikes? I have seen some CRAZY set ups with all the bike weeks I've been to. I think I've literally seen 20 bikes on a 12' landscape trailer, guy turned em facing sideways, but pulled it off
