The stock 2011 Ram 1500 diff come with a threaded drain and fill plug in the cast housing. $260 for a aftermarket diff cover is too much $.

I want Chrysler to install there 2011 diff cover w/ rubber fill plug and deflection plate so the level can be checked as it should have been done.

Its good to want things, but whining about it on the internet isn't going to fix your problem. Either get your dealer to provide you with a 2009/2010 cover or buy one. If you have been a good customer and havn't ticked them off yet I'm guessing that the dealer might help you out.

I am looking at an 2011 1500.I did check the rear end when i went to have a look at it yesterday and it does not have a plug on the back of it.How will I know if the diff issue on this truck have been fixed.

I do have the vin but I could not find a decoder to give me an answer.

On the drivers door is the MFG sticker that lists the build month and year (mo/yr). If the date is 1/11 and later they have already overfilled the diff from the factory and you’re good to go. Don’t remove the fill plug to check the oil level as you’ll have 20 oz of fluid on the floor. Anything with a 12-10 and earlier build date will need to be checked at the dealer for the recall.

I have a 2011 ram 1500 2wd build date 11/13/2010, without the LSD. I have done the rear differential service on my own on every other vehicle I have ever owned. Pretty simple there is a drain plug and a fill plug. I was looking at the rear diff on my ram and I see a rubber plug on the rear face of the diff. What is this! I then looked on the front side of the diff and there seems to be a drain and fill plug, is this the case is it the drain and fill plug? If so when I refill it do I fill the diff to below the hole where the rubber plug is or where the fill plug is on the front side. I would post a pic but I am currently traveling and not at home. Can anyone look at their rear diff and see if they have what I described. I also confirmed that recall k36 was completed which replaced the original factory diff cover with a new cover with a revised fluid fill level access hole.

I bought my truck in 2012 essentially new. Is there a way to verify that this was taken care of other than pulling the plug?

Didn't get a look at the front, but I do have the rubber plug on the rear, so I should be ok.
