It's a known problem--the dealer will replace it and reinforce it with a super stick tape. Had my 09 cap replaced a few months ago. It's free--chill out dude!!

Hi, I agree with you but there is an awesome fix and that is get he clips fixed back in the holes, straighten the tailgate metal around the holes if necessary and before you put it back on cover pretty much the whole area in pure clear silacone, not too close to the edges so it doesn't ooze out. Tape it in place with green masking tape while it cures. You are good to go. Did mine a couple of years age and it has never moved since. Espically when loading and unloading my saws which I rest on the edge in order to lift in. Ie table saw is 122 lbs.

there was a rrt where the dealer will replace for free. after my third one i immediatly stopped at west marine on the way home, got a few stainless screws with flush washers, and screwed it in along the inside of the tailgate.

if you look at a 2011, they put a few push clips in the exact same spot to fix the problem.

Beat me to it MD!

Just take it in and they'll fix-er up for yah! Should still be under warranty....how many miles are on your truck?

This is something pretty minuscule to get all butt bent over..you could have a new F-150 w/ all the major Transmission problems some of them were having...every car company has issues w/ something, it might be small or big...dodge, ford, chevy, and well (I guess I'll classify) toyota they all have issues in one aspect or another.

Actually the fix is not free unless you are under warranty. RRT's are only suppose to be performed when your warranty is still valid, unlike recalls, which are performed no matter what.

My response to the whining would be do not buy a vehicle that is in its first new model year, wait a year and let the ones who bought it find the bugs, becuase there will be bugs once they get out into the real world. Sure, in a perfect world it would be right out of the box, but I am a realist, not a dreamer.

Even if they dont or wont warranty it, just go buy the new updated one, put it on, its NOT that big of deal. And it ISNT that expensive either.
