Thinking about buying a 2500. Price question
Hello, Newbie here.
I would like to start by saying I have never owned a Dodge before so I am starting a pretty big learning curve right now.
I have been truck shopping for the last week or so and have it narrowed down to the Dodge 2500, Crew, Laramie. I think the one I am looking at is the basic Laramie package with the premium sound system, leather heated seats and so on. No sun roof, non bucket seat model however that is an option I would like.
My question is the prices seem to be all over the board in my local area and I am not sure what I should expect to pay. After driving and negotiating with the local dealer yesterday I walked out with an offer on the table of $37,8XX.00.
After reading a few price related posts here it seems that may be kind of high. So, I thought I would ask if there are any like model truck owners here and see what you all payed... If you are willing to share.
Thank you in advance for any direction and feedback you are willing to give.
JT.

It's hard to say if that is a deal or not without knowing the sticker price. You're not going to get quite as good of a deal on a 2500 compared to a 1500 because the rebates are generally not as large. Currently, the 2500 is $2500, which is probably the highest it has been in quite a while. So look up the truck you want and take about 1% off of the invoice + your incentives. That would be ballpark and very fair to both.
I've got one on order, will be here in the next week. Stickered just over $45,265, 1% under is $41,165 - $2500, so $38,665. You can do better on a 2011 but good luck finding what you want not to mention the 2012 has the much better tranny gearing. As a comparison, I got about $11,000 off of my 09 due to the higher incentives on that model of truck.
One other thing to be sure to consider is how much they are giving for your trade. The truck deal may look good but then they make up for it on the trade (if you are trading). So take the whole package into consideration.
If you don't find the truck you want, don't settle. Order exactly what you want.

Thank you for responding!
The numbers you described is pretty close to where they were at. I cannot tell you the exact numbers right now as I did not take a copy of the paperwork. I do not have a trade... I was lucky enough to sell off the other truck locally and feel like I did good with it.
Congratulations on the new truck order!!! That is sweet! I have emailed a couple dealers in the local area this weekend to see what they can come up with on a Apples to apples comparison. I guess I will have to hold tight and see what they come back with.
Thanks again!

That makes it real easy for you by not having a trade, other than higher taxes unless you do a courtesy trade with your old truck.
If you do order, nothing is restricted, and the dealer has allocation, it may arrive sooner than you would expect. Mine will be just over 5 weeks from order to delivery, barring any unexpected delays in the next week. Was expecting from 8-12 weeks.
Good luck!

When I bought rebates and incentives had ended couple weeks back. I told salesman I didn't care. To make it happen. He called next day and I ended up with $10,000 off sticker and then I got them to pay sales tax. $1800.
thats a d@mn good price for a laramie
I lied, i just saw you said no sunroof and not bucket seats.. I'd say thats a decent price.
most fully loaded, and that means everything, navi, sunroof, heated seats, leather, everthing possible, are in the mid to upper 40s, upper 40s to 50s with the cummins.
not a terrible price, however,
GET EXACTLY what you want out the door. it will cost you more to add it on later.
