My 4.56 gears and super chip
Depends on your driving and road conditions. I have the 3.92 LSD with 20-inch wheels and I'm getting better gas mileage than anyone I've talked to with 3.55s. The lower ratio would be better if your unloaded, not towing, and driving steady highway speeds on relatively flat ground.
My daily commute to work is 3.4 miles. My weekly travels include about 60% suburban driving on mostly flat ground with a number of stop signs and stop lights, another 20% stop & go, and another 20% cross-town freeway. My average from May 1st of this year through September 30th was 18.4 MPG. That included two 250 mile highway trips carrying an ATV, plus one 650 mile trip towing three ATVs from Rochester, New York to North Central Pennsylvania. Those are hilly drives and resulted in 19.1, 20.2, and 17.3 respectively.
On the Pennsylvania trip I was accompanied by a fellow with a 2008 Silverado, 5.3, 3.43 gears and 18-inch tires. Supposedly he gets "22 MPG consistently," which I doubt (from what the Chevy guys tell me they get such good gas mileage that their trucks actually make gasoline!). Anyway, he managed to find a way not to compare gas slips, but his passenger later revealed that his computer was indicating "low 14s" almost all the way.
I have not spoken to anyone with the 3.21 gears, but a guy with a 2010 Sport, which came with the 4.10 gears, indicates he can do even better than I.
What apparently hurts the gas mileage on mine the most are restarts, followed by stop & go. At 55 MPH on country roads I typically see 20-21 MPG on the EVIC in the summertime.
