Default Help!! ST Locking

I can't unlock my 2010 RAM ST, so its not central locking, Its manual.

I have a feeling the interior light had been left on would this cause me not to be able to unlock my car?

Its -5'C outside (max - temp) the key goes in fine but just won't turn, its all the way in.

Thanks in advance.

Neil

Your lock is iced up. Go to your nearest parts store and get lock de-icer. You stick it in the lock and it will spray.

Its only Celsius -5'C so I'd say its what 23'F?

The key slides in perfectly, it just won't turn, if it was the battery then surely just the one door would open??

This has been a warmer winter than last and I didn't have this problem, we are due our first snow only next weekend.

It'll be a nightmare tomorrow as we have a parade and I'm one of the inspectors!

Manual locks have nothing to do with the battery. You have a classic case of a frozen lock. Unless you have remote start/locks, you should keep your locks lubricated at least one a week with lock de-icer. I live in new england and it is 12F right now. The cylinder is frozen, that is why it will not turn. Use a lighter or match, heat the key up, and stick it in for a temp. fix.

Well time for me to eat humble pie, I'm an embarrassment to men all over the world.

Yes you were all right.

My wife went out to the car, she was back in 5 mins, "Fu3king MEN"!! Bit of hot water, unlocked the car, so she could get to the antifreeze, that was locked in the car!

Try lubeing it twice a year with penetrating lube and it will never have that problem again.
I`ve always used dupont "Teflon" motorcycle chain lube for years, i`ve never had a lock issue ever.
If you have the factory tailgate lock, you better lube that too. My truck at 6 months was seized from road dirt.
I recommend the chain lube because its waxed base an dosent attract dirt.
