Default need info on tightening front axle nuts on 4x4.

Getting ready to install a 4 inch RCX lift and after reading the install many times only question I have other than finding an alignment shop is if there is any procedure for tightening the front axle nuts properly and to what torque (install guide just says tighten, really)? Come on gear heads give me the info.

If you can't find a spec, test it repeatedly and determine what it is before undoing it and retightened to the same.

You can only do that if you have a torque wrench that will torque in the reverse direction. (left handed thread)
Not all torque wrench`s will do this. A good "snap-on" or a "mac" torque wrench will torque in either direction.
Its best to check with the manufactuer of the torque wrench to see if it has that particular torque option.

You can do it with a normal tq wrench... set it below where you think it should be... tq... if no movement and a click raise it by a few lbs... try again... repeat until fastener moves. Last reading before it moves is the correct one. (At least in theory... there are other factor like rust).

I own many torque wrench`s, more than 3/4`s of them do not torque in reverse mode.

Re-torque until it moves to estimate where it was at.
Start low, move up in 5lb increments and I will be pretty close.

Instead of starting a pizzin contest between other members on how or what to do, why dont you call the company you bought your kit from. I dont want to sound harsh and i`m not trying to be, but posts like this just start a war on how everybody else would do it. All you will likey find on here, are people with opinions that think they know best. Do it the right way, call the company and get the correct spec`s and percedure.
