Risk of Front End Vibration with Levelling Kit
I have read some of the posts about front end vibration, seems a mystery with some trucks doing it and some not. My truck in stock form has no vibration, but I am considering getting the Readylift leveling kit. I have read that this creates vibration in some front ends when in 4wd, so I am torn as to whether I should go with it or not because I don't want vibration. I am told by the dealer that the vibration happens in a small percentage of trucks. Mine is a 2011, does anyone have any current information on what the chances are that I am going to have problems if I put this leveling kit on?
Personally, I don't think it's a matter of if but when you will get the Vibration. I thought I was going to be one of the ones with out it and after 20k I started noticing the Vibration. I even went as far as buying the "Mopar Leveling Kit" and had the dealer install it. It is up to you but I won't do it again. I want to raise the front end back up but the next time I will put an actual lift on it. I haven't heard of any problems with lifts and the Vibration.
Like pdavis said...it may not be a matter of if but when. The reason this happens is due to the high angle put on your CV joints. Jayman on this forum even put the KORE High Angle CV joints on his....If Jay see's this thread I'm sure he'll elaborate a bit. I installed the bilstein 5100's to my truck at the 2.8 setting and I like them. I used my 4x4 in the snow this past week in a storm and no noticeable vibes... people claim it as the death wobble...it's not a death wobble. Just a slight vibration.
I looked at this subject for 3 years and even the bilstiens 5100s produce the vibes your talking about, some even at 1.5" from the last time I looked at it. I am getting ready to install a 4 inch kit, these kit lower the pumpkin and other running gear, save your money and aggravation and get a 4 inch kit, there not hard to install if you have the tools and common knowledge. Good luck.
i have the Top Gunz 2" ... and while i have no vibrations, i wish i went 4 inch lift because 2" just brings these trucks to how high they should have been stock. my buddies 99 bone stock 1500 sport sits the same/slightly higher then mine does now.
I know the Readylift kit brings the back up 1 1/2 and the front 2 1/2, not sure if that little bit extra may be what causes potential for vibration, if I go ahead with it I'll let you know how it turns out.

I wanted to go w/ a 4"-6" lift... but w/ the distances I drive to work it's not practical so I decided to level it out, b/c I couldn't stand driving by the fords/chevy's stock and having them sit higher, so I had too level it out. Best part about the 5100's is when I do add a lift I can keep the 5100's up front. The 5100's are a little more than leveling spacers and a little more work but completely worth it, IMO.
I installed the bilsteins at the 1.5 setting and instantly had the wobble bad. I then installed the KORE high angle cv joints and that helped a bit but it was still very noticable. The item that finally eliminated the shake was when I had my tie rod ends replaced under warranty and now my truck drives smooth as glass again. I dont have hard evidence but as far as im concerned it is the tie rod ends that were the problem on my truck the whole time. I expect the shake to come back eventually and I will inspect the tie rod ends to see if they truly are the culprits when that happens. If you can live with a 4" lift then I would go that route since they do not cause the front end shake that a leveling kit does.
Well, I did have the levelling kit put in and had a wheel alignment done. When in 4x4 there is a very slight vib, extremely minor, and gone when at cruising speed and not under load. I see now why some say you can live with it, at least so far it is very very minor. I like the fact that with the Readylift level you still have ever so slight of a rake for when you are hauling/towing.
4" lift was more than what I wanted, this seems good for now, hopefully the very minor vib I feel at accel in 4wd doesn't increase.
Thanks for the opinions.
