Default Airlift 1000 and pump controller

I am getting ready to install an airlift 1000 air bag system and load controller on my 2011 Dodge Ram 1500CC. I was just looking around to see if anyone had any advice or websites for installation tips. I plan on installing the compressor underneath the rear passenger storage area.

I'll show you how i setup up my airbags controller and gauge. Like you I installed my compressor in the rear seat compartment. I'm just gonna show you how I ran all the wires and lines, how to wire everything together should come with instructions, i just followed the instructions that came with the controller. I'm not sure which controller you got but it would be similar either way.

I kinda put everything half *** in place to see how long i would need my lines to be, but generally this is how I did my setup.

I put the compressor in the rear compartment like you wanted to do. (I just coiled up the extra wiring and lines and put them under the compressor) Disregard all the dog hair i didn't vacuum, that's what happens when you have a dog that like to ride in the ram as much as i do.

From the compressor you will have a "T" connector, one will go to the airbags, and the other will go to your load controller (hose and red wire together).

I'll start by showing how i setup the load controller, starting from the compressor to the controller.
I removed the plastic cover that you see in this picture, which then enables you to lift up the carpet as you wish. Notice the top right of the picture you can see the hose and red wire where i ran it under the carpet, then you can see where i poked a hole (top left) to exit it under the driver's seat. (I taped it up so you can't see the red wire.)

Note: The carpet is kinda glued so i had to pry on it a bit to lift it up.

That red wire going to the loom is for my bedlights, has nothing to do with setup so don't worry if your wondering what that is

I ran the hose with the red wire through the carpet and here you can see it under the seat, that hose plugs into the diaphragm or sensor (whatever you wanna call it, (that thing that keeps 5psi in your bags at all times if it drops below.)

From the sensor under the seat, i ran the hose up by the seatbelt buckle in to the center console where I installed my gauge controller. Taped it up so you can't see it much. (didn't want to drill a hole in my console)

Here you can see the gauge mounted in the center console. Just screwed it in.
Note: all the black wires are just wires from my gps laying in there, they don't belong to the controller.

As for the power wire, you'll have to find power from either the battery or wherever you would like, i just got mine from another setup i did that is fused. I ran that wire under the dash and behind the center console walls right to the diaphragm or sensor.

Then that should be it for the controller part of it.

Now you just need to hook up the compressor to the airbags, this brings us back to the "T" from the compressor. That hose will be going to the airbags, depending on the controller you have, I got the single controller which controls both airbags at the same time.

Here you can see a view from the compressor, you see that one hose and red wire we talked about earlier, also there's this other hose coming from the "T" with the ground wire that goes under the carpet inside the compartment area. If i remember right i think i just used a self tapping screw to install the ground to the body somewhere under the seat (under the carpet).

Note: You'll have to remove those black plastic clips to move away some of the carpet.

Once you lift up the carpet from inside the compartment, you'll see at the bottom there's a hole with a plastic cap that goes right through the floor and under the truck. This is where i ran the hose to go outside the truck and to the airbags. Here you can see the view from underneath the truck of that hole i'm talking about. The hose runs under there and out to the "T" connection on the right, which then goes to each of the airbags

Note: That red wire has nothing to do with the bags, it's just a wire i ran there as well for my bed lights. Looking at this picture reminds me I still have to put cilicone where the hose comes out.

Then that's it, this is how I did mine and hopefully it helps you decide on how you want to setup yours. At first i wanted to put the controller underneath the dash around where the break controller would go but there's just simply no room without hitting my knees on the god damn thing, so i thought in the center console was a decent idea and easier to run the wires there.

It's pretty nice to adjust the airpressure on the fly, I really like this setup as long as the bags last more than 2 months.

If you got questions feel free to ask

Holy Crap! Thanks for the reply, I feel like I should pay you! That looks pretty similar to how I was thinking. Did you mount the compressor to the floor at all or is it just resting there?

Oh yah, has this helped you with loads at all. I have not pulled anything yet but am picking up a 5900pd camper this week. In anticipation these bags seemed like they would be a good idea.

HAha thanks, no need to pay me you can do it, it's just a bitch to get started and scratching your head but once you start you'll be good. Hardest part is to run everything so you can't see the wires. |but it's good enough. The compressor isn't mounted or anything it's just sitting there, good enough unless your running the baja 1000.

As for helping out it did quite a bit, does it's job thats for sure, i usually have a quad in the box and the camper hooked up and the truck is pretty well stiffer, i mean that's alot of weight i'm putting on it probably more than i should but it's ok. Definitely helps those coil springs.

When i put my quad on my deck the truck sit's perfectly lever and rides much better when hitting bumps and whatnot, before it would sag and almost bottom out when hitting bumps

So I have been crazy busy and have not had much time to fool with things and I am a little puzzled at one thing. I got the bags installed and rigged so I can put some air in them but thats as far as I got. Any recommendations on where to get my power from. Last time I did something like this I had a fuse box right there to tap into. I was thinking I could run up to the fuse box but I did not want to have to do modifications to the box.

The closest spot would be the rear seat cigar lighter, and it is already fused, and heavy enough for the load..... The cheapest place to get that plastic wire loom is Harbor Freight, to protect any exposed wiring, Get the smallest you will need. Also avail at any parts store.

I just purchased the same setup. Only thing I'm having trouble with is where to mount the gauge. I Have the center seat in the front of my truck and the fold up console isn't deep enough for the gauge with the lines coming out the way they do. I want it somewhat hidden and not mounted to the dash. I was thinking maybe the glovebox but that's not very easy to reach then. Anyone have any suggestions?
