Thanks... except my 2010 VIN is an "AS" not "DS"
Still it's happening exactly as described in the same location as described.
I'll have it checked out.

I believe "DS" is the model code, not a vin number/letter ID per say. (i think i said that right...lol)

Go to your dealer, its covered, trust me. They are taking care of this issue with all of them that are having this wind noise. If your dealer wont do anything about it, or worse yet, being ignorant, call chrysler and bitch. These trucks are all the same when it comes down to the chassis/cab wind noise issue in my opinion.

Pedrodog`s idea is a very old trick, and it works very very well. You may want to try that before going to the dealer. Take some painters tape with you and prove your findings to the dealer, that will enlighten the dummies there and they MIGHT even be ABLE to fix it right the first time. I do know, that it will save you a ton of time if YOU find the problem before they do.

Capn,

DS is the model code as LU229 suggests. If you have a 2010 1500 it is a DS model and the TSB should apply.

Default Whistling Howling Noise in Cab

So, I'm seeing a lot of feeds on this whistling howling noise inside cab. I've been planning on calling the dealer. I have a 2011, bought it brand new in Jan 11. Just in the last week or two... actually since I took it in for my free oil change, I noticed that when the heater is running on floor/defog no matter what fan speed or if I'm moving at all it's whistling from rear of cab. If I crack rear slider or either of rear windows it stops completely. Also if I put the heat setting to just floor or recirc it stops. It's loud though. Granted this could have started awhile back but it just really got cold hear so I haven't run the heat much until recently. Drives me nuts!! Did not do it last winter at all. Love my truck....Hate that noise.

The dealer finally did take care of it, after first saying it didn't qualify then twice ordering the wrong part. Sadly that dealership often misses the mark in achieving customer satisfaction, concerning themselves more with embellishing receivables than in satisfactorily addressing the original complaint. I use them only because they are conveniently located. Their body shop is A+, their mechanic shop is D- Once we're out of warranty it will be adios.

No reason for service like that. Glad the issue is finally resolved though.

Chris, you`re right, but what are YOU doing to fix the problem. Poor service, thats not surprising at all, thats 95% of the dodge dealers out there. Chrysler needs to step on their dealers and re-qualify them ALL, they ALL need to be taught that you cant **** on the customer AFTER they got your money. We "the owner`s" are at their mercy and they know it, BUT, with the dealers being the idiots as they are, wont win them ANY repeat buyers. Maybe you should be reporting back to your superior`s and see if chrysler can do something about all the shi!!ty dealers you have. Set up under cover op`s, close the ones that are less than good. Back when i use to work for honda motor company, they would secretly send people in to investigate how customers were handled. If they delt with customers in a bad fashion, or they didnt repair the vehicle properly the FIRST time, they would get their parts supplies shut off to the dealer on a first offense. They could only screw up one time, and honda was all over the bad dealership if a complaint was generated by a customer. Honda being great in sales and service WAS the main reason they got to where they`re at, it wasnt that honda made that great of a quality of a car, its was service after the sale is what made them great, something chrysler has NEVER practiced very well, and stands to reason why most people would never buy a chrysler product. Chrysler has done this to themselves, the customer is not to blame for their poor products & sales. Maybe chrysler should start thinking of things like this BEFORE they lose anymore customers. (i know of several people in my area that will never buy another chrysler product just because chrysler screwed them over to many times) The product is worthless without having good places to go for service... and EXCELLENT service to say the least. Treat the customer like gold...!!! The customer IS their bread-n-butter, but these chrysler dealers just dont think about it that way, thats why ther`s so dam many bad ones. It needs to be stopped...!!! I know, speaking for myself here, i will never buy another chrysler product ever again, that is, until they can get better qualified dealerships out there.

End of rant

Default Whistler Ram

So I posted a little while back about a vacuum whistling sound from rear of cab. It so happened that it started immediately after an inspection. Brought it in after about a week and found ( which is exactly where I traced obnoxious noise too) that the third brake light seal was not seat properly. During the inspection the bulb was out. No big deal until I went back to the dealer to pick it up and they wanted 75 bucks to fix. I said you are out of you F@&cking mind if you think i'm paying for something you messed up. Literally word for word. The service manager said well we just replaced the bulb, I told him they had to remove the unit in order to do that on the 2011 ram. So after about 15 minutes of arguing he got the mechanic who said yeah we had to remove the unit to replace the bulb which when it was replaced the seal wasn't seated properly. Idiots! This noise was constant if the heat was on. Didn't matter if I was doing 6 or 60 it was a constant sucking air noise. 3rd brake light seal over rear slider was it. Problem fixed.
