Default Is there an easy way to remove the rear center head rest in a 2010 crew cab

Be fore I use a crow bar and break something I am going to ask if there is an easy way.

I have a 2010 longbed crew cab with a 5th wheel hitch and no one has ever sat in the rear center seat since I bought the truck 2 years ago and the only thing that useless head rest does is block my view when I try to hitch up my 5th wheel camper. I have stood in the back of the bed and tried grabbing it through the rear center window because I hoped it would give me some leverage but no dice. I am pushing the release button but all it does is to allow me to do is move the headrest up about an inch, I want to remove it.

PS if I have to use a hack saw to get it off I will but I would rather try less drastic measures.

i remember having a hard time getting it off/out and it didnt come the first time i tried, but dont recall what i had to do besides just pushing that button and pulling up. (might have just gotten pissed and pulled like heck)

might have had to push button, pull up, release then push button and pull again?

I haven't been able to removed the center headrest in my 2012 Crew Cab work pickup either. My personal 2011 Mega Cab came right off.

Well now at least I know it can come off without a hack saw.

I have been in bed for a few days, time to get back outside and do some stuff on the truck. Maybe a long 2X4 may help persuade it to come out

If it came off on one model it should come off on others because it would be very expensive to make different latch systems for different models. My guess is they use the same release on all models.

2009, I removed mine soon after I bought it. I just squeezed the buttons and pulled up, it didn't come out easy but it did come out.

Yup, just push the button and pull it off. I remove mine when there is nobody in the center seat so I don't have to look at it in the mirror

The trick to the center headrest is there are two release buttons, one on each side and the 2nd one isn't quite so obvious.

Press the release button on the driver's side to pull it up as high as possible, ie, the inch or so, then press the "hidden" release button on the inside edge of the passenger side collar - it's there, trust me.. Both are on the top edge of the seat and as I said, the one on the passenger side is kind of hidden. Feel around for it, it's there.

The driver's side release is on the outside edge and has a lip on it. The hidden one is on the inside edge of the passenger side and does not have a lip on it, so it's not as obvious.

I (like most people) pulled the center headrest so I could see out of the rearview mirror.
