'13 Headlights
Those leds ate gonna last a very long time, and I sure hopethey thought of that if they do burn out.. As for the projectors Lu they are halogen projectors, so putting hids in there will improve some but won't be the greatest. To have full potential ofhids you need an hid projector.. I know because I have the go recon projectors, which are halogen, and I was quite disappointed of the output.. They might be decent already but probably better putting a higher wattage halogen. At least they are an improvement and a step ahead with those lights. They still should have put hids those cheap bastard, you pay 40 000 for a truck what's another 500 for quality lights.

InterpunX,
you seem to be pretty knowledgable about the HID`s.... i was pondering the thought why i`ve heard people complaining about going to HID in their trucks around here and complain that they dont have as much lighting right directly in front of their trucks like they did when they had just plain ole halogen headlights... So, i`m thinking i have a thought on that scenario... do you think it MIGHT be because a truck sits alot higher than a car, and the pin point beams from the HID projectors throw the light beams out in the distance compared to say a regular halogen housing would...? The guys with HID`s in their lifted trucks REALLY complain about this alot around here. So with this new 2013 coming out with projector headlights makes me wonder if people are really going to be happy with them, especially when they start lifting these trucks, and you KNOW they will...lol.

Well I'd say it's part on quality of the projector and how you adjust them, with projectors on lowbeam they have a cutoff, so It usually shines down in front of the vehicle and anything passed the cutoff is basically pitch black so you don't blind oncoming traffic.. There's normal projectors just for lowbeam and there's some bixenon projectors also which have lowbeam and highbeam feature, that's works with a selenoid moving a Lil flap that cuttsoff some light for lowbeam, and flips up for highbeam (thebulb stays lit all the time). If they are complaining about the light sucking its probably because they havecheap aftermarket lights like recon or anzo for example, which are in my opinion halogen projectors.. Projectors usually take h1 bulbs and if you look at a h1 halogen versus a hid, the hid bulb is quite longer and could be the difference factor. I think you need quality hid projectors for them to really work, likethe Morimoto's, which is what Jeremy uses in his retrofit, which I can't wait to get, and I will mostekely post a before and after video... I know I switched to hid in my foglihhys and jésus Murphy are they ever bright, I use those for highbeams in addition of my hid spotlights on my bullbar..
It is kind of a bitch to get those hids to work right on the ram, but onceyou get them working itsnice to have security wise, especially where I live and all kinds of animals.. I know my foglihhys were all plug and play, but the lowbeam was a different story, finally got them working with a capacitor and a quality ballast, I'm using lumens product and heard that ddm works well with the ram. Butlike you said getting bulbs is hard, but I bought a couple extra for spare so if they go I already have em, not that pricey.

One nice thing, even if those new 2013 headlights have just halogen bulbs, its gonna make it sweet for the guys that want real HID bulbs, just a matter of buying the HID bulbs and ballist`s and replace the factory halogen bulbs. At least you wont have to buy the projectors now, they`re already there for you. Cudo`s to dodge for finally upgrading the lights on these trucks, the 4th gen headlights just plain suck unless you do some modding to them. I see they went with LED tail lights too, not sure that was a smart move for us buyers, they`ll cost a fortune to replace them when the LED`s start blowing out... and they will.
As far as the headlight fitting in the older 4th gens, it "looks" like it would. However if you looked at the specs on the new 2013 it seems as if dodge beefed up their electronics. In which case I would not be surprised if the headlight has some sort of built in electronics to work with the new computer. However it probably would be smart of dodge to allow them to work, more money for them...
Anyone see if these projectors are auto lowering? I have yet to see a "quad" headlamp, so I would be curious to see if they are?
Interpunx is right about the projectors. There is a difference between halogen projectors and HID projectors. I will look for an article I read on using HID's in a Halogen projector (If I find it I'll post it) but all in all they disassembled the Projector itself and looked at the projector glass and on the Halogen style projector the glass was warping due to the heat from the HID.
I have bought projectors for some of my vehicles where a HID bulb would not fit them.
Many HID bulb types are actually pretty long... so I hope that new '13 housing has the internal room required of the type of bulb they use.

If they happen to do fit, i hope the 13 housings will hold up to the high heat from the HID bulbs as well.
i swapped out the stock 9145 bulbs for 9155 bulbs
(#9145 42watts stock OEM)
#9155 55watts (Ebay - made in korea, decent quality)
Headlight Bulbs (Sport Quad Headlight Housings = 4 bulbs / bought from ebay)
#9005 Hi-Beam 80watt (5000K)
#H9 Lo-Beam 65watt (socket alignment tab in bulb has to be ground down to fit in the H11 lo-beam oem wiring harness)
Purchased 4 Hi-Temp Ceramic plug-n-play connectors (bought from ebay)
For those wondering if it mess`s with the TIPM... no, it does not. Have had NO issues at all.
Modded 3rd brk/light & reverse lights to #894 halogen bulbs (38watts vs oem 17watts)
For the 3rd brk/light, cut the plastic base off the bulb, bend over the tabs, plug it in...done.
Reverse lights, grind off the large tab from the #894 plastic base, build yourself a sub harness to plug them in...done
Brake & Tail Light Light bulbs: 3357LL (29/8.3 watts) (Stock OEM is 27/8.3)
Total cost for this whole project: $50.00 bucks
Total time to install: couple hours
Happy with results: VERY
Again, for those wondering if it mess`s with the TIPM... no, it does not. Have had NO issues at all.
