After much deliberation I ordered superchips 3865 for my cc hemi big horn. I went on a 140 mile trek with my 5,000lb camper and averaged 8.7mpg. Mostly highway doing around 57 mph with a short jaunt of 70 of 5 miles. I've been driving 6 miles to work. 3 blocks to highway then 6 miles, 3 blocks into work. I average between 14.3 and 15.4 depending on how fast I get up to 58mph on my 6 mile jog. I have 3:55 gears. I plan on doing a full write up on the 3865. All the research I've done is from 1-3 years ago. That's not cool. So I will post more as I see fit. Won't be in until next week. I'm rather excited!!!

Guys

Is this tuner 100% undetectable by the dealer?

I have been following the SC threads for 2 years now it seems, that's my only drawback,,.

Please tell me you guys have used it and had nothing said by the dealer about any tune,,,

The dealer isn't going to 'say anything' just for a normal service visit because a) it doesn't matter; and b) they have no way to tell without detailed inspection of the vehicle's PCM. The only possible way it becomes an issue from Dodge's point of view is if you had an engine failure that you wanted them to repair under warranty that might somehow be related to the tuner (i.e. something like internal damage, NOT a broken manifold bolt or a water pump failure) and they started looking for reasons not to pay it.

However, anytime you go in for service I think it is important to pull the tune and reset to stock tuning NOT for 'detection', but because if the dealer decides to flash your computer for some reason related to the service work it would wipe out your tune and screw up the tuner/vehicle pairing. I think this requires you to pay Superchips to unlock the tuner to allow it to be able to tune the truck again. Not 100% sure of that, but that's what I recall learning back in 2010 when I got mine. I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if this is an incorrect understanding.

They will not know. For 2009 and 2010 Rams it is very difficult for the dealer to detect *what* was uploaded. For 2011 and above it seems they have resorted to storing information in multiple locations. I have this first hand from a local Chrysler mechanic for the simple cost of a lunch. The dealer does not have the time, inclination or ability to dig through every ECU. If ECU files are sent back to the factory almost anything might be detected via undisclosed methods - but the dealer is not set up to do this. To date, I have never seen any empirical evidence of a dealer refusing warranty work on a gasser because they detected a tune was loaded (on a 2009 or 2010). There is a plethora of anecdotal stories, but no documented cases that I am aware of. If someone has a verified case please share it with us so we will all know. It is true that dealers are becoming aware of the use of tuners and being trained (via service bulletins) on what (physical) symptoms to look for especially with regards to diesels. I HAVE seen evidence of warranty denials for tuned diesels. They can tell by examining cylinder walls and other engine inspection methods if a tuner may have contributed to a failure.

"Volant CAI and the Volant throttle body spacer"
Sorry to say, but you wasted your money on these 2 particular items.

No need to be sorry
But why do you say this, I'm now interested in Understanding the "why" part. I know a ton of 4th gens' with the Volant Cold air kit and can attest to a slight increase in MPG...

Let me know pls....

This is day 2 using my flashpaq 3865. I took it right out of the box. Plugged it in. Went to advance tune and then it saved my stock tune. About 6-8 minutes. I decided on the 91 performance tune. Disabled my mds, changed my tire size to recalibrate my speedometer. On my 6 mike trek to work cruising 55-60 I'd be lucky to hit 17 on my evic. Now I'm showing up to 21.0 mpg. Granted this isn't actual mpg but it seems to run a lot better. I got on it hard and low gear was 55mph, shifted into second thought my tires were going to break loose. 2nd was almost 90 and I let off. The truck shifts much firmer. Seems to be more peppy than before. It actually revs up now instead of the CPU telling it no don't do that. Lol. Magnaflow sounds nice without that mds motor boat sound out the tailpipes. On the way to work. 60mph was 1500rpn and so was 70. Was still climbing over 20mpg on the evic. Can't wait to get out on the interstate and see what it does. Or even a longer road then 6 miles to see what it does. So far I'm very pleased. Bought it off amazon. 285 + 6 for shipping. Btw, I'm running 93 octane. Look for more posts in the future.
