Superchips Flashpaq 3865 Power Gains ?
I was averaging around 14.1mpg. First week in 91 performance tune hand calculate was 16.4mpg. That is even with hot ******* it everywhere I go. I hooked up to my 6,000lb jayco travel trailer. I didn't refill tank for exact. But I traveled about 50 miles. Evic showed 14.3. Lowest point was 13.4 driving 60mph on a hilly road for about half the trip. Towing tune did well. It shifted at higher rpm. Held the gears longer. Shifted firm like the performance tune. I was in tow/haul mode too. Running 93 octane. I'm vey pleased. Looking forward to another trip with it next weekend.
Ordered mine today. $279 on Amazon. I've towed twice with this new truck since I have owned it (about a month), and have another trip coming up, so will be anxious to compare.
On a seperate question, does the performance tune get rid of the "lag" when you get on the throttle. I assume this is some sort of torque management, but it just seems that it takes a second or two for the power to really kick in from a standstill or rolling start when I start to apply throttle.

I never noticed any difference in performance with the towing tune. The Hemi is plenty powerful anyway and trailering results in such varied gas mileage that it is hard for me to determine any differences. All it did for me was require more expensive fuel and I didn't sense a payoff worth doing that.
With regular driving I use the 91 octane performance (not towing) tune and it is definitely more powerful than stock. I can tell every time I revert back when bringing the truck for a service visit.
To answer your question, the performance tune will do nothing for torque management but you can manually adjust torque management settings with the transmission tweaking features of the Flashpaq. I've never done that because you have to choose all settings yourself and I just am too uninspired to parse through tons of web postings to try to figure out what the sweet spot is for that type of thing. If Superchips provided a predefined profile for torque management I'd probably try it.

I average 10 to 10.5 mpg when towing so far, but I also live in Colorado and tow exclusively in the mountains. So i'm not looking for mpg gains when I tow, I know it is going to be crappy already, it's just a given. Overall, i'm very happy with how this truck tows. I lost a little on the low end when I went to 33" tires (since my gears are 3:55), but it overcomes that as soon as I hit 2500 rpm, then the Hemi does just fine. Since most of the time I need the power is going up steap mountain passes, I want my power in the middle range anyway. Gears would take care of my low end issue if I decide it warrants it, but for now I am happy. I'll be curious to see if the tow mode on the tuner has any noticable improvement for me. I'll be reporting back here.
I didn't have time today to read the entire super chips thread, with two kids and walking around on crutches (yeah), but does anyone know by chance how to get around the "tremendous pig of a launch"...sorry, love my hemi, but this thing is slow off the line,,, and I'm running the 93 quick tune, just won't launch,,,,I almost had a damn minivan beat me,,,,no really,,,,am I missing a setting that opens up lost power at launch,, I have a modified exhaust (not full, just removed the rear resonator) and volant cai and throttle body spacer... So I know the truck breathes well, just how can I change something to make it pull hard from stop...thanks

JohnVI, have you tried launching with your traction control off? I notice a big difference when I switch mine off. My 09 CC 4x2 is running the SC 93 tune and I can break my 20's loose from a dig even though I have the crappy 3.21 open gears. I am a regular at my local drag strip and have experimented with different launch techniques. Seems like my truck does not like power braking or launching with traction control on, that's when the launch pig shows it ugly face. Try launching from idle with TC off and see what happens. FYI - I just installed the Vararam intake and will be adding a 180 degree TSTAT this afternoon, I'll keep you guys posted on performance gains, if any LOL.

No I have not, but will try tomorrow morning.
Have you done anything with the trans tune stuff, or advanced tune. It is suppose to allow you to set your idle RPMs but i cant find it anywhere..Also, i would LOVE to know a good solid group of settings for the advanced tune...I would even paypal a few bills for a tune ...Idea>>>
example:
Fast off the line- High Power level - Higher idle - and good for short&long distances for driving..
Then i would foresee someone that has the exact settings for this tune, has vetted it on theirs for at least a week <letting it bake> and then pose it as a tune option...again, i dont have time like others to put lots of time into the research: kids, school, 10hour days for work, and side newly started business,,,,But time is money....So if a custom tune settings I can plug in for the advanced and Trans Tune option from someone with experience...and its not extortion
I would put in some money for it...

Have I missed something on the SC Tuner, does it actually turn off traction control like OFF/ON? I know you can adjust the Torque management settings (0 - 100%) but where can you actually switch off traction control?

No you are right; SC does not allow you to switch off the traction control. I just turn off the ESP on the dash next to the tow/haul button. To be honest, I leave my ESP off all the time unless the road is wet. My truck responds better in stop and go traffic without the electronic nanny’s kicking in. When I launch hard with the ESP on, the slightest hint of wheel spin sends my ESP into action and I can feel my truck bog down and launch real soft. With the mods you have listed, your truck should be making a lot more power at the wheels, so I suspect your ESP is holding you back. I do not have the SC advanced tranny tune yet, I plan on downloading it after I test my new Vararam/180 TSTAT combo at the drag strip this Friday. From the seat of my pants, I can feel the truck pull harder from 3K to redline with the new intake. The TSTAT works great, temperature holds steady at 183 under normal city driving even with the 100 degree heat outside, previous operating temps were 200 - 205. I hope to see some lower E.T.'s and higher MPH with the new parts. Will keep you posted after I hunt down some Chevys and Fords!!
