I wonder if the pinion angle is insufficient in the newer 1500's which can cause alot of "whine" if you will from the u-joints. Shims will fix this if it were to be the case.

If you have to be ata a specific speed/range and have the back glass open to kinda hear the noise. It's not that bad and should be of no real concern. It could just be the tires?

Well I got it checked out on saturday and they made me pull it in right away after the tech and service manager went for a ride with me. funny part was the service manager bought the same spec truck as me and commented that his makes a little whine noise as well. He has 280miles on the truck. At that point I said to myself there is nothing wrong with this truck. They then put it on the lift and checked the fluid level which was right on. they then lifted just the rear end of the truck and and inspected the drive shaft and felt for play in the entire drive train. last but not least started the truck on the lift with the rear end still up in the air and brought it up to 70mph. everyone heard the whine but it just sounded like normal operation coming from the 3.92 LSD. The service manager said if i want he would replace the entire diff with a new one but doesn't think its going to change anything. I told him No. I said don't fix whats not broken. I feel better that everything was looked over and checked. Thanks for everyones help.

I agree, and it should be mandatory that ALL dealerships should do nothing less for the customer.
Especially if they want a happy repeat customer...!

I just dont fuggin get it, some dealerships no questions asked, pop a complete brand new differential in and i`ve been fighting with 2 different dealerships to just fix mine and NEITHER one of the dealers will do anything about mine until it blows out entirely. (mine whines so loud that the radio wont even drowned out the noise anymore) Wait until a driveshaft flies out from under one of these trucks and kills an innocent passerby or bystander, bigtime lawsuit on chrysler. I guess thats what chrysler wants. Afterall, they`re bragging about all the profits they seem to be making lately, so i`m guessing they can afford a big azz nasty lawsuit and think nothing of it.
